【Abstract】This study investigates the potential influence of blockchain technology adoption on a company's competitive performance from an interorganizational systems perspective. A research framework is derived based on expert interviews and tested with a quantitative survey. The results show, that by offering traceability and immutability of transactions, blockchain technology could positively impact a company's competitive performance. The study further identified a positive influence of smart contract technology on partnering flexibility and competitive performance.
