Scalable computational solution for agroclimatic data tracking with IoT and multi-blockchain support

【Abstract】This article presents a scalable computational solution for tracking agroclimatic data using IoT and blockchain technologies. The proposed system offers flexibility in configuring data collection intervals, supports data persistence in public and private blockchain networks, and incorporates a data encryption mechanism to optimize transaction costs. A modular architecture was designed based on the C4 model, enabling secure integration between IoT devices, backend services, and blockchain layers. The system supports soft real-time monitoring, characterized by low-latency data processing without strict timing guarantees, suitable for most agricultural applications. In contrast to existing IoT-blockchain approaches, our solution combines dual blockchain support, automated smart contract deployment, and traceability certification. The solution was evaluated through two distinct scenarios: a coffee plantation using a public blockchain and a sugarcane mill leveraging a private blockchain, demonstrating its versatility, cost-effectiveness, and operational scalability across diverse agricultural domains. The evaluations validated the system's ability to securely manage and trace agroclimatic data, while ensuring traceability and data integrity through blockchain-registered certificates. High test coverage results further reinforced the reliability and robustness of the implementation.
