Blockchain implementation for circular supply chain management: Evaluating critical success factors

【Abstract】Blockchain technology implementation in a circular supply chain management (CSCM) context is an emerging topic that involves complex processes and diverse goals. This study aims to develop a framework that describes the main phases of Blockchain-enabled CSCM and evaluates the critical success factors of Blockchain implementation for CSCM. Further, we employed a combined analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method to explore the priorities and relationships of success factors using evaluations from academic and professional experts. The outcome of the AHP analysis shows that the success factors related to technology, such as technical capability, technological maturity, and technological feasibility, play critical roles in CSCM. Furthermore, the DEMATEL analysis suggests that knowledge training and data security should be regarded as essential causal factors influencing other factors. The results provide a possible path for determining critical success factors and facilitating Blockchain-enabled CSCM.
