【Abstract】Globally, firms face increasing pressure to efficiently utilize resources and minimize costs and may do so through sustainable supply chains and circular economy practices. Emerging technologies, such as blockchain, to enable a circular economy have become a new industrial paradigm. However, firms require building dynamic capabilities through blockchain, which can be key to realizing circular economy model. This study introduces a framework for building blockchain-driven dynamic capabilities for a circular supply chain. We further use the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method to evaluate three major dynamic capabilities and 18 sub-dynamic capabilities and their interrelationships. The mining industry in Ghana sets the stage for this analysis. The study results show that although blockchain-driven sensing dynamic capability, seizing dynamic capability, and reconfiguring dynamic capability are crucial for developing a circular supply chain, they do not strictly follow a sequence and overlap. We highlight various cause-effect relationships, providing insights into the role of sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring dynamic capabilities. That information is important to firms, stakeholders, and partners to draft an appropriate strategy to build blockchain-driven dynamic capabilities for developing a circular supply chain.

【Abstract】Supply chain traceability refers to product tracking from the source to customers, demanding transparency, authenticity, and high efficiency. In recent years, blockchain has been widely adopted in supply chain traceability to provide transparency and authenticity, while the efficiency issue is understudied. In practice, as the numerous product records accumulate, the time-and storage-efficiencies will decrease remarkably. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first work studying the efficiency issue in blockchain-based supply chain traceability. Compared to the traditional method, which searches the records stored in a single chunk sequentially, we replicate the records in multiple chunks and employ parallel search to boost the time efficiency. However, allocating the record searching primitives to the chunks with maximized parallelization ratio is challenging. To this end, we model the records and chunks as a bipartite graph and solve the allocation problem using a maximum matching algorithm. The experimental results indicate that the time overhead can be reduced by up to 85.1 % with affordable storage overhead.

【Abstract】Significant efforts have been made for vehicle-to-vehicle communications that now enable the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). However, current IoV solutions are unable to capture traffic data both accurately and securely. Another drawback of current IoV models that are based on deep learning is that the methods used do not tune hyperparameters efficiently. In this paper, a new system known as Secure and Intelligent System for the Internet of Vehicles (SISIV) is developed. A deep learning architecture based on graph convolutional networks and an attention mechanism are implemented. In addition, blockchain technology is used to protect data transmission between nodes in the IoV system. Moreover, the hyperparameters of the generated deep learning model are intelligently selected using a branch-and-bound technique. To validate SISIV, experiments were conducted on four networked vehicle databases dealing with prediction problems. In terms of forecasting rate (> 90%), F-measure (> 80%), and attack detection (< 75%), the results clearly show the superiority of SISIV over baseline systems. Moreover, compared to state-of-the-art solutions based on traffic prediction, SISIV enables efficient and reliable prediction of traffic flow in an IoV context.

【Abstract】Blockchain is a promising and emerging technology. Despite the number of studies on the subject, several studies require further exploration of the relationship between blockchain and social innovation. Moreover, there is an increasing interest in social entrepreneurship and in how technical solutions may address social or environmental issues. Hence, this work aims at understanding how a venture can apply blockchain technology for social good. The study adopts a qualitative approach based on a case study and builds on stakeholder theory as a theoretical background. The case study under review is a social venture working on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 10. Our findings present four peculiarities of blockchain for social good: (i) reliability, (ii) transparency, (iii) decentralization, and (iv) accessibility. Moreover, the present study develops a framework on blockchain for social good based on the possible stakeholders' involvement. Finally, four challenges related to blockchain for social good are presented and discussed.

【Abstract】A micro-credential is a proof of the student's knowledge, skills, and experience that can be used to progress towards a larger credential or degree that focuses on a particular field of study in the shortest amount of time. Micro-credentials are a new area in the education sector that has expanded significantly over recent years and have become a popular idea in the higher education sector. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, micro-credentials are the most recent innovation in online education, gaining traction in public and private universities throughout the world. This has resulted in many universities developing strategies to offer micro-credential-driven courses. Higher education institutions (HEIs) need to validate micro-credentials, but the validation is a long-drawn-out and cumbersome process, so blockchain technology can be used to easily validate the detailed information on each students' micro-credentials. Unfortunately, to date, only scant scholarly research has been conducted on blockchain-based micro-credentialing systems in HEIs. This study provides a detailed overview of the state-of-the-art in the field of managing micro-credentials using blockchain technology. We start by outlining the various requirements that need to be met in a blockchain-based micro-credentialing system. We then use a systematic literature review (SLR) to retrieve relevant studies published between 2016-2022 and compare them to the defined requirements. We also analyse the relevant studies to determine the research gaps. This review will offer insight into micro-credentialing systems that have been proposed for HEIs over recent years.(c) 2022 Published by Elsevier B.V.

【Abstract】To reduce the cost of human and material resources and improve the collaborations among medical systems, research laboratories and insurance companies for healthcare researches and commercial activities, electronic medical records (EMRs) have been proposed to shift from paperwork to friendly shareable electronic records. To take advantage of EMRs efficiently and reduce the cost of local storage, EMRs are usually outsourced to the remote cloud for sharing medical data with authorized users. However, cloud service providers are untrustworthy. In this paper, we propose an efficient, secure, and flexible EMR sharing system by introducing a novel cryptosystem called dual-policy revocable attribute-based encryption and tamper resistance blockchain technology. Our proposed system enables EMRs to be shared at a fine-grained level and allows data users to detect any unauthorized manipulation. Moreover, the key generation center can revoke malicious users without affecting the honest users. We provide the formal security model as well as the concrete scheme with security analysis. The experimental simulation and experimental analysis of our proposed scheme demonstrate that our proposed system has superior performances to the most relevant solutions.

【Abstract】Blockchain systems face two emergent problems, namely scalability and privacy, each of which has been addressed independently. However, how to achieve privacy and scalability simultaneously remains a challenging problem for blockchains. In this article, we propose a privacy-preserving and scalable permissioned blockchain system called HyperMaze employing the zero knowledge proof technique and a hierarchical system architecture. It gains scalability by adopting a hierarchy of multiple blockchains that processes transactions in parallel. We design an ID-based dual-balance account model where an identity-based account is associated with two types of balances-a plaintext balance and a private (zero-knowledge) balance. Furthermore, we design a two-phase cross-chain transaction mechanism (2PXT) to achieve transaction privacy for both intra-chain and cross-chain transactions. We rigorously formulate a security model for HyperMaze under the universal composability framework, and then provide a simulation-based security proof. A prototype of HyperMaze is implemented and a series of experiments are conducted over up to 2,600 nodes to evaluate its performance. The experimental results show that a 4-level, (7,10)-threshold, 6-ary HyperMaze system can reach 19,440 TPS and the transaction confirmation latency is only 9.5 seconds. To our best knowledge, HyperMaze is the first high-throughput privacy-preserving blockchain whose throughput is over 19,000 TPS.

【Abstract】Decentralized storage (DS) projects such as Filecoin are gaining traction. Their openness mandates effective auditing mechanisms to assure users that their data remains intact. A blockchain is typically employed here as an unbiased public auditor. While the case for static data is relatively easy to handle, on-chain auditing of dynamic data with practical performance guarantees is still an open problem. Dynamic Proof-of-Storage (PoS) schemes developed for conventional cloud storage are not applicable to DS, since they require large storage proofs and/or large auditor states that are unmanageable by a resource-constrained blockchain. To fill the gap, we propose a family of dynamic on-chain auditing protocols that can produce concretely small auditor states while retaining the compact proofs promised by static PoS schemes. Our design revolves around a set of succinct data structures and optimization techniques for index information management. With proper instantiation and realistic parameters, our protocols can achieve 0.25MB on-chain state and 1.2KB storage proof for the auditing of 1TB data, outperforming previous dynamic PoS schemes that are adaptable for DS by orders of magnitude. As another practical contribution, we introduce a data abstraction layer that allows one to deploy the auditing protocols on arbitrary storage systems hosting dynamic data.

【Abstract】study the problem of multi-user dynamic searchable symmetric encryption (DMUSSE) where a data owner stores its encrypted documents on an untrusted remote server and wishes to selectively allow multiple users to access them by issuing keyword search queries. Specifically, we consider the case where some of the users may be corrupted and colluding with the server to extract additional information about the dataset (beyond what they have access to). We provide the first formal security definition for the dynamic setting as well as forward and backward privacy definitions. We then propose mSE, the first provably secure DMUSSE scheme and instantiate it in two versions, one based on oblivious data structures and one based on update queues, with different performance trade-offs. Furthermore, we extend mSE to support verifiability of results. To achieve this, users need a secure digest initially computed by the data owner and changed after every update. We efficiently accommodate this, without relying on a trusted third party, by adopting a blockchain-based approach for the digests' dissemination and deploy our schemes over the permissioned Hyperledger Fabric blockchain. We prototype both versions and experimentally evaluate their practical performance, both as stand-alone systems and running on top of Hyperledger Fabric.

【Abstract】Vehicular Digital Forensics (VDF) is essential to enable liability cognizance of accidents and fight against crimes. Ensuring the authority to timely gather, analyze, and trace data promotes vehicular investigations. However, adversaries crave the identity of the data provider/user, damage the evidence, violate evidence jurisdiction, and leak evidence. Therefore, protecting privacy and evidence accountability while guaranteeing access control and traceability in VDF is no easy task. To address the above-mentioned issues, we propose Eunomia: an anonymous and secure VDF scheme based on blockchain. It preserves privacy with decentralized anonymous credentials without trusted third parties. Vehicular data and evidence are uploaded by data providers to the blockchain and stored in distributed data storage. Each investigation is modeled as a finite state machine with state transitions being executed by smart contracts. Eunomia achieves fine-grained evidence access control via ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption and Bulletproofs. A user must hold specific attributes and a temporary-and-unexpired token/warrant to retrieve data from the blockchain. Finally, a secret key is embedded into data to trace the traitor if any evidence breach happens. We use a formal analysis to demonstrate the strong privacy and security properties of Eunomia. Moreover, we build a prototype in a WiFi-based Ethereum test network to evaluate its performance.

【Abstract】Payment channel, which allows two parties to perform micropayments without involving the blockchain, has become a promising proposal to improve the scalability of decentralized ledgers. Payment channels have been extended to payment networks to utilize existing channels as intermediary links to route coins to others. However, payments through multiple channels bear nontrivial overheads, including time cost, charges at intermediate nodes, etc. In this paper, we propose channel hub, a novel off-chain system to shorten the routing path for the payment network. Channel hub allows transferring coins directly from one payment channel to another within the same hub, so that it can be viewed as a shortcut device for the underlying payment network. Compared with payment hub in literature, which connects participant nodes, our channel hub is more efficient and lightweight, because it connects channels already constructed by the payment network. Based on channel hub, we design a new protocol named Boros to perform secure off-chain cross-channel transfers. We present the security definition of Boros and formally prove its security using the UC-framework. To demonstrate the feasibility of Boros, we develop a proof-of-concept prototype running on Ethereum. Performance evaluation shows that Boros can effectively shorten the off-chain payment path.

【Abstract】In cryptocurrencies, privacy of users is preserved using pseudonymity . However, it has been shown that pseudonymity does not result in anonymity if a user's transactions are linkable. This makes cryptocurrencies vulnerable to deanonymization attacks. The current solutions proposed in the literature suffer from at least one of the following issues: (1) requiring a trusted third-party entity, (2) poor performance, and (3) incompatible with the standard structure of cryptocurrencies. In this article, we propose Unlinkable Coin (UCoin), a secure mix-based approach to address these issues. In UCoin, the link between the input (payer) and output (payee) addresses in a transaction is broken. This is done by mixing the transactions of multiple users into a single aggregated transaction in which the output addresses have been secretly shuffled. In our protocol design, we first develop HDC-net, a secure shuffling protocol that enables a group of users to anonymously publish their data. Then, we deploy the proposed HDC-net protocol in the UCoin architecture (as a mixing unit) to generate the aggregate transactions. We show that UCoin (1) does not rely on a trusted third-party, (2) can mix 50 transactions in 6.3 seconds that is 18% faster than the current solutions, and (3) is fully compatible with the architecture of cryptocurrencies.

【Abstract】Smart contracts, just like other computer programs, are prone to a variety of vulnerabilities, which lead to severe consequences including massive token and coin losses. Prior works have explored automated exploit generation for vulnerable Ethereum contracts. However, the scopes of prior works are limited in both vulnerability types and contract platforms. In this paper, we propose a cross-platform framework, called ExGen, to generate multiple transactions as exploits to given vulnerable smart contracts. ExGen first translates either Ethereum or EOS contracts to an intermediate representation (IR). Then, ExGen generates symbolic attack contracts with transactions in a partial order and then symbolically executes the attack contracts together with the target to find and solve all the constraints. Lastly, ExGen concretizes all the symbols, generates attack contracts with multiple transactions, and verifies the generated contracts' exploitability on a private chain with values crawled from the public chain. We implemented a prototype of ExGen and evaluated it on Ethereum and EOS benchmarks. ExGen successfully exploits 1,258/1,399 (89.9%) Ethereum and 126/130 (96.9%) EOS vulnerabilities. ExGen is also able to exploit zero-day vulnerabilities on EOS.

【Abstract】Purpose"Metaverse" has become a buzzword in the Chinese stock market. However, it remains unclear whether a firm's metaverse-related announcements will elicit positive stock market reactions. Whether and how stakeholder reactions are influenced by a firm's metaverse-related readiness also needs to be further explored. This study aims to discuss the aforementioned objective.Design/methodology/approachThe authors derived a set of factors based on readiness theory and business ecosystem literature and extend them into the context of the metaverse. The authors used a sample of 642 Chinese listed firms in 2021 to investigate the hypotheses through the event study.FindingsThe study's findings show that metaverse coverage induces a positive stock market reaction, but it is subject to three moderating effects. The authors introduce the novel concepts of IT readiness, ecosystem readiness and digital infrastructure readiness as the moderators. Stakeholders perceive metaverse announcements as overhyped, and stock prices do not fluctuate significantly after a metaverse announcement when the listed firms are not ready to embrace the metaverse.Originality/valueThis study is one of the first that introduces the event study method into the metaverse research, and it reveals that different levels of readiness influence stakeholders' evaluations and reactions to corporate metaverse coverage. This provides empirical evidence on metaverse development in China from the stock market's perspective.

【Abstract】The relevance of the problem of improving business models in the energy industry has become especially acute in recent years due to the energy transition, the emergence of new energy production and consumption technologies, and the increase in environmental requirements for energy companies' performance. The purpose of the study is to form recommendations for creating business models in energy companies that meet modern realities and ensure the sustainable development of the energy business in an environment that is characterized by increased uncertainty and aggressive competition. Based on the analysis of scientific publications and the systematization of industry cases, it is proved that business models in the energy sector are likely to transform in the following three aspects: implementation of green technologies as a response to the public demand for clean energy; spatial organization of production based on platforms and digital tools; and active implementation of customized knowledge-intensive services. This article discusses the development of the social investment concept, the key factors affecting its implementation in the energy sector and related industries, and its risks and limitations in the times of energy crises. It is justified that new business models require changes in energy market infrastructure and strategic management principles. In this regard, the authors developed recommendations for the adaptation of the wholesale and retail electricity and power market to the structural, technological, and economic transformations in the energy production and consumption areas. The main advantages, barriers, and ideas for the effective implementation of innovative business models in energy companies are verified through an expert survey.

【Abstract】The paper focuses on analysing the potential benefits and challenges of the Metaverse, particularly in the field of research in the tourism and food and wine sectors. The Metaverse is part of the new generation of the internet known as web 3.0, which also includes AI, blockchain and other digital innovations. The food marketing and tourism sectors are the main fields where companies are experimenting with solutions to offer people a fully functioning immersive Metaverse experience. This paper aims to highlight the potential impact of the Metaverse on tourism sectors as well as on research activities. Open challenges concern the social acceptance, affordability, and environmental sustainability of these technologies. Research is needed on the Metaverse's ability to reduce bias and accurately simulate real experiences, as well as on tourists' perceptions, attitudes, and willingness to pay for mediated experiences. Another important issue is the management of sensitive data that will travel through the Metaverse. Looking forward, the Metaverse has the potential to become a valuable tool for advancing tourism research through virtual collaboration and interdisciplinary research projects.

【Abstract】In the financial sector, data are highly confidential and sensitive, and ensuring data privacy is critical. Sample fusion is the basis of horizontal federation learning, but it is suitable only for scenarios where customers have the same format but different targets, namely for scenarios with strong feature overlapping and weak user overlapping. To solve this limitation, this paper proposes a federated learning-based model with local data sharing and differential privacy. The indexing mechanism of differential privacy is used to obtain different degrees of privacy budgets, which are applied to the gradient according to the contribution degree to ensure privacy without affecting accuracy. In addition, data sharing is performed to improve the utility of the global model. Further, the distributed prediction model is used to predict customers' loan propensity on the premise of protecting user privacy. Using an aggregation mechanism based on federated learning can help to train the model on distributed data without exposing local data. The proposed method is verified by experiments, and experimental results show that for non-iid data, the proposed method can effectively improve data accuracy and reduce the impact of sample tilt. The proposed method can be extended to edge computing, blockchain, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) fields. The theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed method can ensure the privacy and accuracy of the federated learning process and can also improve the model utility for non-iid data by 7% compared to the federated averaging method (FedAvg).

【Abstract】IoT devices rely on authentication mechanisms to render secure message exchange. During data transmission, scalability, data integrity, and processing time have been considered challenging aspects for a system con-stituted by IoT devices. The application of physical unclonable functions (PUFs) ensures secure data transmission among the internet of things (IoT) devices in a simplified network with an efficient time-stamped agreement. This paper proposes a secure, lightweight, cost-efficient reinforcement machine learning framework (SLCR-MLF) to achieve decentralization and security, thus enabling scalability, data integrity, and optimized processing time in IoT devices. PUF has been integrated into SLCR-MLF to improve the security of the cluster head node in the IoT platform during transmission by providing the authentication service for device-to-device communication. An IoT network gathers information of interest from multiple cluster members selected by the proposed framework. In addition, the software-defined secured (SDS) technique is integrated with SLCR-MLF to improve data integrity and optimize processing time in the IoT platform. Simulation analysis shows that the proposed framework outperforms conventional methods regarding the network's lifetime, energy, secured data retrieval rate, and performance ratio. By enabling the proposed framework, number of residual nodes is reduced to 16%, energy consumption is reduced by up to 50%, almost 30% improvement in data retrieval rate, and network lifetime is improved by up to 1000 msec.

【Abstract】Cross-chain is an emerging blockchain technology which builds the bridge across homogeneous and heterogeneous blockchains. However, due to the differentiation of different blockchains and the lack of access control and identity authentication of cross-chain operation subjects, existing cross-chain technologies are struggling to accomplish the identity transformation of cross-chain subjects between different chains, and also pose great challenges in terms of the traceability and supervision of dangerous transactions. To address the above issues, this paper proposes a scalable cross-chain access control and identity authentication scheme, which can authenticate the legitimacy of blockchains in the cross-chain system and ensure that all cross-chain operations are carried out by verified users. Furthermore, it will record all cross-chain operations with the help of Superchain in order to regulate and trace illegal transactions. Our scheme is scalable and, at the same time, has low invasiveness to blockchains in the cross-chain system. We implement the scheme and accordingly conduct the evaluations, which prove its security, efficiency, and scalability.

【Abstract】The wave of modernization around us has put the automotive industry on the brink of a paradigm shift. Leveraging the ever-evolving technologies, vehicles are steadily transitioning towards automated driving to constitute an integral part of the intelligent transportation system (ITS). The term autonomous vehicle has become ubiquitous in our lives, owing to the extensive research and development that frequently make headlines. Nonetheless, the flourishing of AVs hinges on many factors due to the extremely stringent demands for safety, security, and reliability. Cutting-edge technologies play critical roles in tackling complicated issues. Assimilating trailblazing technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), edge intelligence (EI), 5G, and Blockchain into the AV architecture will unlock the potential of an efficient and sustainable transportation system. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in the literature on the impact and implementation of the aforementioned technologies into AV architectures, along with the challenges faced by each of them. We also provide insights into the technological offshoots concerning their seamless integration to fulfill the requirements of AVs. Finally, the paper sheds light on future research directions and opportunities that will spur further developments. Exploring the integration of key enabling technologies in a single work will serve as a valuable reference for the community interested in the relevant issues surrounding AV research.

【Abstract】Digital twins, a product of new-generation information technology development, allows the physical world to be transformed into a virtual digital space and provide technical support for creating a Metaverse. A key factor in the success of Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution, is the integration of cyber-physical systems into machinery to enable connectivity. The digital twin is a promising solution for addressing the challenges of digitally implementing models and smart manufacturing, as it has been successfully applied for many different infrastructures. Using a digital twin for future electric drive applications can help analyze the interaction and effects between the fast-switching inverter and the electric machine, as well as the system's overall behavior. In this respect, this paper proposes using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) digital twin model to accurately estimate the states of a speed sensorless rotor field-oriented controlled induction motor (IM) drive. The accuracy of the state estimation using the EKF depends heavily on the input voltages, which are typically supplied by the inverter. In contrast to previous research that used a low-precision ideal inverter model, this study employs a high-performance EKF observer based on a practical model of the inverter that takes into account the dead-time effects and voltage drops of switching devices. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the EKF digital twinning on the IM drive system, simulations were run using the MATLAB/Simulink software (R2022a), and results are compared with a set of actual data coming from a 4 kW three-phase IM as a physical entity.

【Abstract】Construction is a major source of carbon emissions. Moreover, it faces various other sustainability challenges, such as construction waste, construction noise, vehicular traffic near construction sites, dust and other air and water pollutants, and safety and well-being of construction workers. Poorly designed and constructed buildings will continue to affect the well-being of their occupants and overall energy efficiency throughout the building lifecycle. Hence, accelerating the transformation of the construction industry towards smart construction or Construction 4.0 is an important topic. The ways that technology can help to achieve smart construction, especially with the adoption of construction methods with increasing construction modularity, should be further explored. Focusing on modular integrated construction (MiC), this paper examines the following questions: (1) How has technology been applied to support MiC development and smart construction in Hong Kong? (2) What are the lessons learned? A case study approach of a building information model (BIM)-enabled multifunctional blockchain-based digital platform is adopted to allow us to systematically consider (1) the main objectives and scope, (2) the stakeholders involved, (3) the key outcomes and processes, (4) the applications of blockchain technology, and (5) the integration with other digital software and management platforms in practice. Drawing upon the experience, we propose a generic four-stage approach in understanding and facilitating the adoption of relevant technology towards smart construction. At Stage One, the technologies of BIM, RFID, and blockchain are applied to support the core elements of MiC production: just-in-time transportation and on-site installation. At Stage Two, the digital platform is extended to serve as an interface for third parties, notably government; monitoring, authentication, and certifications for information sharing; visualization; and real-time monitoring and updating of MiC projects. At Stage Three, the system focuses on people in the construction process, aiming to enhance the safety and well-being of workers and drivers throughout the construction process. Different Internet-of-Thing devices and sensors, construction robotics, closed-circuit television, dashboards, and cloud-based monitoring are deployed. At Stage Four, the full construction lifecycle is the focus, whereby a centralized smart command theatre is set up with multiple sources of data in a city information model.

【Abstract】The Edu-Metaverse, a vast ensemble of different technologies, has initiated a great and unprecedented change in the field of education. This change has been effected through the following Edu-Metaverse characteristics: embodied and multimodal interaction; immersive teaching scenarios, which can accelerate learning and skill acquisition; and the emergence of AI-enabled agents. In comparison to traditional classroom teaching models, smart education is a collaborative and visual model that adopts the latest AI technologies to reach a learning outcome. However, a problem that should be considered is how a smart education model, enabled by the Edu-Metaverse, can be developed to enhance better learning outcomes for students. Such a model should highlight smart pedagogy in the context of the Edu-Metaverse, together with a smart teaching environment, multimodal teaching resources, and AI-enabled assessment. In this study, we focused on the teaching of college English to 60 students from Zhejiang Open University. We investigated the effectiveness of a smart education model, which was empowered by the Edu-Metaverse, in enhancing better learning outcomes for the students, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. After the one-semester-long experiment, questionnaires were sent out to complement the interview findings. It was found that the students who engaged in the smart education model in the Edu-Metaverse yielded higher scores in oral English, vocabulary and grammar, reading comprehension, English-to-Chinese translation, and writing than those who engaged in traditional instruction. Therefore, this study suggests that a smart education model enabled by the Edu-Metaverse, which is characterized by a highly immersive experience, multimodal interaction, and a high degree of freedom for resource sharing and creation can help learners to realize deep learning, develop their capacity for high-order thinking, and help them to become intelligent individuals in an online learning space. In order to facilitate this smart learning, we make the following suggestions for educational institutions: (1) teachers should improve the design of teaching scenarios, (2) teachers should focus on learning assessment that is based on core literacy, and (3) teachers' knowledge of the architecture of the Edu-Metaverse should be enhanced.

【Abstract】The widespread usage of smart devices with various city-centric services speeds up and improves civic life, in contrast to growing privacy and security concerns. Security issues are exacerbated when e-government service providers trade their services within a centralised framework. Due to security concerns, city-centric centralised services are being converted to blockchain-based systems, which is a very time-consuming and challenging process. The interoperability of these blockchain-based systems is also more challenging due to protocol variances, an excessive amount of local transactions that raise scalability and rapidly occupy memory. In this paper, we have proposed a framework for interoperability across various blockchain-based smart city services. It also summarises how independent service providers might continue self-service choices (i.e., local transactions) without overloading the blockchain network and other organisations. A simulated interoperability network is used to show the network's effectiveness. The experimental outcomes show the scalability and memory optimization of the blockchain network.

【Abstract】Covert communication was widely studied in recent years in terms of keeping the communication of entities on the Internet secret from the point of view of information security. Due to the anonymity of accounts and the publicness of the ledger, blockchain is a natural and ideal channel for helping users establish covert communication channels. Senders can embed secret messages into certain fields in transactions, and receivers can extract those messages from the transactions without attracting the attention of other users. However, to the best of our knowledge, most existing works have aimed at designing blockchain-based covert communication schemes. Few studies concentrated on the recognition of transactions used for covert communication. In this paper, we first analyze convolutional neural network (CNN)-based and attention-based covert transaction recognition schemes, and we explore the deep relationship between the appropriate extraction of features and the embedded fields of covert transactions. We further propose a multi-dimensional covert transaction recognition (M-CTR) scheme. It can simultaneously support both one-dimensional and two-dimensional feature extraction to recognize covert transactions. The experimental results show that the precision and recall of the M-CTR in recognizing covert transactions outperformed those of existing covert communication schemes.

【Abstract】The privacy of electricity consumers has become one of the most critical subjects in designing smart meters and their proliferation. In this work, a multilayer architecture has been proposed for anonymous data collection from smart meters, which provides: (1) The anonymity of information for third-party data consumers; (2) Secure communication to utility provider network for billing purposes; (3) Online control of data sharing for end-users; (4) Low communication costs based on available Internet of things (IoT) communication protocols. The core elements of this architecture are, first, the digital twin equivalent of the cyber-physical system and, second, the Tangle distributed ledger network with IOTA cryptocurrency. In this architecture, digital twin models are updated in real-time by information received from trusted nodes of the Tangle distributed network anonymously. A small-scale laboratory prototype based on this architecture has been developed using the dSPACE SCALEXIO real-time simulator and open-source software tools to prove the feasibility of the proposed solution. The numerical results confirm that after a few seconds of anomaly detection, the microgrid was fully stabilized around its operating point with less than 5% deviation during the transition time.

【Abstract】Since 2016, the Bank of Canada has conducted annual surveys to monitor awareness, adoption and usage of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This report incorporates results from the 2019 Bitcoin Omnibus Survey and the November 2020 Cash Alternative Survey. We find that between 2018 and 2020, the level of Bitcoin awareness and ownership among Canadians remained stable: nearly 90% of the population were aware of Bitcoin, while only 5% owned it. We find that about half of Bitcoin owners stated they usually obtained their bitcoins through mobile or web exchanges, while one-fifth used mining. Bitcoin owners were susceptible to certain risks, as evidenced by the fact that about half of current and past owners stated they had been affected by events such as price crashes, losing access to funds, scams or data breaches. The most commonly cited reasons for owning Bitcoin were related to its use for investment or based on interest in the technology. Bitcoin owners displayed greater knowledge about the Bitcoin network than nonowners, yet they scored lower on questions testing financial literacy.

【Abstract】Quantitative portfolio investment mainly depends on historical data analysis and market trend prediction to make appropriate decisions, which is an important mean to reduce risks and increase returns. Based on summarizing the existing traditional single forecasting models and multiobjective dynamic programming models, this paper puts forward a new quantitative portfolio model to improve the accuracy of asset price forecasting results and the appropriateness of investment trading strategies, to better realize the maximization of investment returns. This model analyzes and forecasts daily price data by establishing a combination forecasting model of the gray GM (1,1) model and the ARIMA time series model and establishes a multiobjective dynamic programming model with moving average convergence divergence (MACD) and Sharpe ratio indicators as risk constraints to formulate appropriate investment trading strategies. The results show that by solving the quantitative portfolio trading model established in this paper and analyzing the sensitivity and robustness of the model, the price of gold and Bitcoin, two volatile assets, can be accurately predicted, and the best investment portfolio trading strategy can be effectively worked out on the premise of considering the risk level.

【Abstract】For this paper, the relationship between seventeen popular cryptocurrencies was analyzed by multivariate Granger causality tests and simple linear regression, using data spanning the period 1 September 2020 to 8 December 2021. The novelty of this work is that it studies the effects of sampling interval and sample size in cryptocurrency markets, which can yield significantly different results. Minute-by-minute, hourly and daily data were collected to examine the Granger causality relationship between cryptocurrencies. It was found that all the currencies demonstrated a significant causality relationship when high frequency (such as minute-by-minute) data was used, in contrast to hourly and daily data. The bigger the sample size, the higher the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis. Hence, the null hypothesis for the Granger causality test can be rejected for minute-by-minute time series data because of too large a sample size. Granger causality test results for hourly and daily data indicated that Bitcoin, Ethereum Classic, and Neo were leading indicators among the cryptocurrencies included in the research. In addition, according to simple linear regression analysis, the short term marginal effect of Bitcoin plays an important role by creating significant impacts on other cryptocurrencies.

【Abstract】Recently, the adoption of the industrial Internet of things (IIoT) has optimized many industrial sectors and promoted industry "smar-tization. " Smart factories and smart industries connect the real and virtual worlds through cyber-physical systems (CPS). However, these linkages will increase the cyber security danger surface to new levels, putting millions of dollars' worth of assets at risk if communications in big network systems like IIoT settings are left unsecured. To solve these problems, the funda-mental method is security, such as authentication and confidentiality, and it should require the encryption key. However, it is challenging the security performance with the limited performance of the sensor. Blockchain-based identity management is emerging for lightweight, integrity and persistence. However, the key generation and management issues of blockchain face the same security performance issues. First, through blockchain smart con-tracts and hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallets, hierarchical key deriva-tion efficiently distributes and manages keys by line and group in the IIoT environment. Second, the pairing verification value based on an elliptic curve single point called Root Signature performs efficient public key cer-tificate registration and verification and improves the key storage space. Third, the identity log recorded through the blockchain is the global trans-parency of the key lifecycle, providing system reliability from various se-curity attacks. Keyless Signature Infrastructure (KSI) is adopted to perform efficiently via hash-based scheme (hash calendar, hash tree etc.). We ana-lyze our framework compared to hash-based state commitment methods. Accordingly, our method achieves a calculation efficiency of O(n log N) and a storage space saving of 60% compared to the existing schemes.
