【Abstract】A blockchain is a distributed system that achieves strong security guarantees in storing, managing, and processing data. All blockchains achieve a common goal: building a decentralized system that provides a trustworthy service in an untrustworthy environment. A blockchain builds a Byzantine fault-tolerant (BFT) system in which decentralized nodes run a protocol to reach an agreement on the common system state. In this article, we focus on the research of BFT protocols. In particular, we categorize BFT protocols according to both the system models and workflow. We seek to answer these important questions: How has the research in BFT evolved in the past four decades, especially with the rise of blockchains? What are the driven needs for BFT research in the future?

Blockchain-Based Digital Twins: Research Trends, Issues, and Future Challenges

【Abstract】Industrial processes rely on sensory data for decision-making processes, risk assessment, and performance evaluation. Extracting actionable insights from the collected data calls for an infrastructure that can ensure the dissemination of trustworthy data. For the physical data to be trustworthy, it needs to be cross validated through multiple sensor sources with overlapping fields of view. Cross-validated data can then be stored on the blockchain, to maintain its integrity and trustworthiness. Once trustworthy data is recorded on the blockchain, product lifecycle events can be fed into data-driven systems for process monitoring, diagnostics, and optimized control. In this regard, digital twins (DTs) can be leveraged to draw intelligent conclusions from data by identifying the faults and recommending precautionary measures ahead of critical events. Empowering DTs with blockchain in industrial use cases targets key challenges of disparate data repositories, untrustworthy data dissemination, and the need for predictive maintenance. In this survey, while highlighting the key benefits of using blockchain-based DTs, we present a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art research results for blockchain-based DTs. Based on the current research trends, we discuss a trustworthy blockchain-based DTs framework. We also highlight the role of artificial intelligence in blockchain-based DTs. Furthermore, we discuss the current and future research and deployment challenges of blockchain-supported DTs that require further investigation.

Blockchain based energy trading scheme for vehicle-to-vehicle using decentralized identifiers

【Abstract】A blockchain-based energy trading system is a new paradigm of grid infrastructure, which allows that energy purchaser and seller can efficiently exchange the energy through two-way communication. However, because energy trading services are provided through public networks, these systems are vulnerable to potential security breaches. This paper proposed a privacy-preserving blockchain-based energy trading scheme for vehicle-to-vehicle to resolve the security issues of contemporary systems and provide secure energy trading services. The proposed scheme has high efficiency by applying decentralized identifiers and verifiable credentials technologies because the records of energy trading are not stored on blockchain and blockchain is only utilized in the validation of users. After completing the energy trading, the vehicle issues a verifiable credential to the counterpart to prove the legitimacy of the transaction. We also perform informal and formal security analysis to demonstrate its security and achieve secure mutual authentication, confidentiality, and session key security. Furthermore, we implement AVISPA simulation to show that our scheme is resistant to man-in-the-middle and replay attacks. As a result, the proposed scheme can be used in distributed smart grid environments.

White knight in dark days? Supply chain finance firms, blockchain, and the COVID-19 pandemic

【Abstract】We investigate the impact of the announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic on the market value and trading volume of supply chain finance (SCF) firms. Using an event study, we observe a significant valuation loss and higher trading volume of SCF firms. However, blockchain-enabled SCF firms are protected from such valuation loss and volatility in trading. We find that higher research and development (R & D) and capital expenditures by firms prevent the loss. Moreover, the firm value of blockchain-enabled SCF firms is impacted by their mem-bership in a blockchain consortium and progress in blockchain implementation. Investors' confidence in blockchain reduces the market uncertainty.

Optimization strategy for power sharing and low-carbon operation of multi-microgrid IES based on asymmetric nash bargaining

【Abstract】Promoting the efficient use of renewable energy and realizing the low-carbon operation of the integrated energy system has become an important direction for the reform of the integrated energy system. In this paper, we firstly construct a microgrid model containing electricity, heat and gas multi-energy synergy, consider the optimal operation mechanism of carbon trading with reward and punishment ladder, and improve the model of CHP units by adding carbon capture system and power-to-gas facility to reduce carbon emissions. Then, a cooperative operation model of multi-microgrid electric energy sharing is established based on Nash negotiation theory, which is then decomposed into the subproblem of maximizing the benefits of microgrid alliances and the subproblem of distributing cooperative benefits, and the alternating direction multiplier method is selected for distributed solution, so as to effectively protect the privacy of each subject. In the cooperative benefit distribution subproblem, an asymmetric bargaining method is proposed to quantify the contribution size of each participating entity by a nonlinear energy mapping function, and each microgrid negotiates with each other by the size of its electric energy contribution in the cooperation as the bargaining power to achieve a fair distribution of cooperative benefits. Finally, the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that the benefits of the microgrid alliance are maximized by the proposed multi-microgrid power sharing method; moreover, the cooperative benefits of the microgrid alliance are equitably distributed based on the magnitude of the energy contribution of each microgrid; in terms of carbon emissions, the results demonstrate that the carbon capture joint power-to-gas system, as well as the energy sharing method among microgrids, can effectively reduce the carbon emissions during the microgrid operation.

【Abstract】Digital Twin (DT) has become the key technology in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in smart cities to keep the health and reliability of various DT requesters, such as private vehicles, public transportation, energy systems, etc. The combination of DT and ITS can further release the potential of participants in smart cities and guarantee their efficiency and reliability. Despite the advantages of DT-enabled ITS, not all requesters need the same level of DT service due to the highly dynamic nature of ITS. Safe and reliable matching between DT and ITS still needs to be resolved. To address these issues, we propose the blockchain-enabled Digital Twin as a Service (DTaaS) for ITS. First, we propose an on-demand DTaaS architecture to fully utilize the sensing capabilities of ITS and the macro perspective of DT. Second, a double-auction model and a price adjustment algorithm are proposed to realize the optimal DT matching for ITS requesters and ensure the benefits of participants. Third, a permissioned blockchain and a novel DT-DPoS consensus mechanism are established to enhance the security and efficiency of DTaaS. Simulation shows that the proposed DTaaS and double-auction can efficiently stimulate and facilitate DT transactions. The proposed DT-DPoS also has obvious advantages.

Secure and reliable computation offloading in blockchain-assisted cyber-physical IoT systems

【Abstract】With the development of the Cyber-Physical Internet of Things System (CPIoTS), the number of Cyber-Physical System (CPS) applications accessed in networks has increased dramatically. Latency-sensitive resource orches-tration in CPS applications is extraordinarily essential for maintaining the Quality of Experience (QoE) for users. Although edge-cloud computing performs effectively in achieving latency-aware resource allocation in CPIoTS, existing methods fail to jointly consider the security and reliability requirements, thereby increasing the process latency of tasks and degrading the QoE of users. This paper aims to minimize the system latency of edge-cloud computing coupled with CPS while simultaneously considering the security and reliability requirements. We first consider a time-varying channel model as a Finite-State Markov Channel (FSMC) and propose a distributed blockchain-assisted CPIoTS to realize secure consensus and reliable resource orchestration by offloading computation tasks in edge-cloud computing. Moreover, we propose an efficient resource allocation algorithm, PPO-SRRA, that optimizes computing offloading and multi-dimension resource (e.g., communication, computa-tion, and consensus resource) allocation by using a policy-based Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) method. The experimental results show that the proposed resource allocation scheme can reduce the system latency and ensure consensus security.

【Abstract】With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the massive data sharing between IoT devices improves the Quality of Service (QoS) and user experience in various IoT applications. However, data sharing may cause serious privacy leakages to data providers. To address this problem, in this study, data sharing is realized through model sharing, based on which a secure data sharing mechanism, called BP2P-FL, is proposed using peer-to-peer federated learning with the privacy protection of data providers. In addition, by introducing the blockchain to the data sharing, every training process is recorded to ensure that data providers offer high-quality data. For further privacy protection, the differential privacy technology is used to disturb the global data sharing model. The experimental results show that BP2P-FL has high accuracy and feasibility in the data sharing of various IoT applications.

Energy storage capacity competition-based demand response method in blockchain ancillary service market

【Abstract】With the development of new energy, the ancillary service demand of power grid is increasing. The published literature focuses on building a blockchain ancillary service market to ensure the safety and efficiency of ancillary service transactions. However, due to the high threshold and poor scalability, the existing blockchain market is hard to meet the demand of the response rate of ancillary services. Therefore, this paper proposes an energy storage capacity competition-based demand response method in blockchain ancillary service market. Firstly, a new market structure is proposed, which uses the Proof of Capacity (POC) as the consensus mechanism. The structure uses POC to realize the competition among users' energy storage capacity. Secondly, the demand response process of ancillary service market is designed. During the transaction processes, the probability of users participating in the transaction is changed according to the users' storage capacity. Dealing with different demands, the market chooses the user with the largest capacity or the combination of users to respond. The simulation shows that, compared with the traditional ancillary service market, the capacity competition-based market demand response rate is increased by 20%, the time to fulling all users' capacity in the market is reduced by 2 h, and the call rate of user's capacity is increased by 10%.(c) 2022 The Author(s). 【Abstract】Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) provides efficient communication among vehicles (V2V). The communication among all the vehicles complies with the on-demand, which contains a secure and trustable mechanism to ensure trustable communication. The modification in the communication information may result in falsified information. Secure data is very important in V2V communication to save the lives of pedestrians and drives by delivering secure and accurate information. To address the problem and achieve secure communication in V2V, we proposed a new blockchain-based message dissemination technique to secure V2V communication. With the passive need for adaptable and sufficient content delivery, information-centric networking (ICN) is adopted to enhance trustworthiness communication in VANET. We used Cluster-based secure communication through ICNbased VANETs. As VANET is open, ICN provides direct content requests and responses without location dependency. ICN-based VANET enhances caching abilities. The blockchain-based security protocol is implemented to secure efficient communication without altering the messages. The protocol achieves privacy, security, and trust for detecting malicious nodes in VANET. Additionally, the Clustering technique is applied to adopt in-range communication. Proposed-Caching framework enhances security and provides on-demand data to vehicles. NS-2 simulator is used to simulate the Proposed VABLOCK approach. Experimental results are performed and compared with relevant techniques, which show enhanced results based on cache hit ratio, one hop count, malicious node detection, and delivery ratio. We demonstrate that proposed caching improves results on selected parameters based on results.

The Role of Technology in Improving the Customer Experience in the Banking Sector: A Systematic Mapping Study

【Abstract】Information Technology (IT) has revolutionized the way we manage our money. The adoption of innovative technologies in banking scenarios allows to access old and new financial services but in a faster and more secure, comfortable, rewarding and engaging way. The number, the performances and the seamless integration of these innovations is a driver for banks to retain their customers and avoid costly change of hearts. The literature is rich in works reporting on the use of technology with direct or indirect impact on the experience of banking customers. Some mapping studies about the adoption of technologies in the field exist, but they are specific to particular technologies (e.g., only Artificial Intelligence), or vice versa too generic (e.g., reviewing the adoption of technologies to support any kind of banking process). So a specific research effort on the crossed domain of technology and Customer Experience (CX) is missing. This paper aims to overcome the following gaps: the lack of a comprehensive map of the research made in the field in the past decade; a discussion on the current research trends of top publications and journals is missing; the next research challenges are yet to be identified. To face these limitations, we designed and submitted 7 different queries to pull papers out of 4 popular scientific databases. From an initial set of 6,756 results, we identified a set of 89 primary studies that we thoroughly analyzed. A selection of the top 20% works allowed us to seek the most performant technologies as well as other promising ones that have not been experimented yet in the field. Main results prove that the combined study of technology and CX in the banking sector is not approached systematically and thus the development of a new specific research line is needed.

【Abstract】Smart cities are a current worldwide topic requiring much scientific investigation. This research instigates the necessity of an organized review to a heedful insight of the research trends and patterns prevailing in this domain. The string is formulated to extract the corpus from Scopus largest database of publications. The corpus of 8320 articles published from 2010 to 2022 is processed using Latent Dirichlet Allocation. Two, five, and ten topics have been extracted to provide the recent trends for IoT in smart cities. There has been an increased recognition that more attention needs to be paid to the area of smart cities so a complete overview of the topic of smart cities research, including the most prominent nations (institutions, sources, and authors) and noteworthy research directions has been presented in this paper. The scientific collaboration across countries (regions), organizations, and authors has also been widely discussed. A detailed and comprehensive overview and visualization of the trends and research patterns used to integrate the Internet of Things in Smart Cities. This data based experimental study signifies a roadmap of the research trends in Smart Cities by implementing topic modeling technique that has never been used in this domain. Based upon the topic modeling using LDA, authors have formulated three research questions and answered those question based on the in-depth research. At the end this study concludes the areas suggested are at the growing phase and need more insight for their growth.

【Abstract】The growing need for access to safer food items is increasing, and hence, there is a need for a better supply chain management system in the food industry is increasing. The emergence of Blockchain technology enables centralized tracking of information support in enhancing the data privacy and increasing transparency and support in eradicating the tampered food products in the supply chain system. These approaches leverage the usage of smart contracts and decentralize the storage of information in a secure manner for enhanced product traceability in the F&B industry. The implementation of smart contracts generates better data governance, which tends to meet the needs and requirements of the stakeholders, and applies effective measures of food traceability. The primary objective of the study is to perform an analysis of Blockchain in enhancing drug traceability in the food sector. The researcher uses quantitative analysis for the study as it helps in understanding the critical determinants influencing drug traceability in food effectively, the survey method is used to gather the information, and past reviews are also used to possess a better understanding of the subject area effectively.

【Abstract】The current work describes a blockchain-based optimization approach that mimics the psychological mental illness evaluation procedure and evaluates mental fitness. Combining lightweight models with blockchains can give a variety of benefits in the healthcare business. This study aims to offer an improved review and learning optimization technique (SPLBO) based on the social psychology theory to overcome the biogeography-based optimization (BBO) algorithm's shortcomings of low optimization accuracy and instability. It also creates high-accuracy solutions in recognized domains quickly. To retain student individuality, students can be divided into two groups: Human psychological variables are incorporated in the algorithm's improvement: in the "teaching" step of the original BBO algorithm; the "expectation effect" theory of social psychology is combined: "field-independent" and "field-dependent" cognitive styles. As a consequence, low-weight deep neural networks have been designed in such a manner that they require fewer resources for optimal design while also improving quality. 【Abstract】The current work describes a blockchain-based optimization approach that mimics the psychological mental illness evaluation procedure and evaluates mental fitness. Combining lightweight models with blockchains can give a variety of benefits in the healthcare business. This study aims to offer an improved review and learning optimization technique (SPLBO) based on the social psychology theory to overcome the biogeography-based optimization (BBO) algorithm's shortcomings of low optimization accuracy and instability. It also creates high-accuracy solutions in recognized domains quickly. To retain student individuality, students can be divided into two groups: Human psychological variables are incorporated in the algorithm's improvement: in the "teaching" step of the original BBO algorithm; the "expectation effect" theory of social psychology is combined: "field-independent" and "field-dependent" cognitive styles. As a consequence, low-weight deep neural networks have been designed in such a manner that they require fewer resources for optimal design while also improving quality. 【Abstract】With the continuous development of the information age, data sharing and exchange are gradually increasing. The Internet and big data technology provide a guarantee for data sharing and transmission. At present, as the amount of data increases rapidly, how to realize data sharing has become a huge challenge. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a data sharing platform based on the combination of blockchain and interplanetary file system (IPFS) technology to solve the data sharing and storage. Firstly, by constructing the alliance blockchain, the consensus mechanism of computing power competition is used to maintain the data written into the blockchain, and the IPFS data storage system is established to store data using distributed storage, file splitting, and splicing technologies. Secondly, a data sharing platform composed of blockchain module, IPFS module, encryption and decryption module, and fast retrieval module is built. Data encryption is processed by encryption and decryption module, and the processed data is uploaded to THE IPFS module; the abstract and other information are finally written into the blockchain through the blockchain module. The fast retrieval module can quickly locate the required data according to the retrieval conditions in the mass blockchain data; finally, the security and storage of data sharing platform are guaranteed through security and performance evaluation. The research results solve the problem of large amount of data sharing, realize the data decentralization, and ensure the data storage security.

【Abstract】Researchers in the field of smart manufacturing have recognized the benefits of blockchain technology, which solves the trust problem in the open network without relying on any trusted third party. Blockchain technology enables interaction between otherwise competing manufacturing entities to satisfy increasing customer demands in a trustful way. However, existing blockchain networks are facing limitations, which are defined by the trade-off between scalability, decentralization, and security. The scalability of the blockchain network is defined as the ability of the network to support an increasing load of transactions and it is lower compared to the non-blockchain systems. In order to omit the effects of the limitations, scalability solutions are being presented. This research reviews the literature in the field of blockchain-supported manufacturing concerning scalability solutions. The selected literature has been reviewed and classified according to the type of scalability solution. For each type of scalability solution, the main features of the concepts and connection between blockchain technology and manufacturing system are highlighted and discussed. The main findings of the study are that Layer 1 scalability solutions are better represented in the literature and are predominating in the case of general smart manufacturing systems, whereas Layer 2 scalability solutions are better represented in the case of specific smart manufacturing systems. Based on insights obtained from the presented analysis, future directions and open issues regarding the scalability limitations and solutions in blockchain-supported manufacturing are presented.

【Abstract】A security model of multimedia education resource fusion based on multistage integration of multimedia educational resources is constructed in this paper in the context of smart education. First, the teaching model of multimedia education resource fusion is analyzed and the IoT communication evolution model and functional architecture model are constructed accordingly, based on which the realization path of IoT intelligent sensing, intelligent management, emotional computing, device sharing, and vision simulation functions for smart education are discussed. The security model uses a decentralized cryptographic data security sharing method based on blockchain for protection and supports blockchain to record user attributes to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data. The experimental and analytical results indicate that the scheme can effectively reduce the computational overhead of smart devices while ensuring the security of data sharing. Moreover, the proposed model in the paper achieves better performance than other methods in terms of security strength, encryption, and decryption time.

【Abstract】The emergence of digital copyright in the internet era altered the traditional method of information dissemination and triggered a new copyright revolution, which benefited copyright owners by increasing revenue. However, as a result of the efficiency and convenience of technical capture, the data-based form of copyright faces new challenges and the emergence of a large number of infringement acts has become a barrier to the development of the digital copyright industry. Blockchain technology is decentralized, impenetrable, timestamped, traceable, and capable of smart contracts, among other characteristics. It was initially applied in the financial sector before being expanded to other sectors, resulting in a variety of blockchain + X models. The application of blockchain technology to digital copyright protection represents an attempt to protect copyright owners' rights through the use of a novel technical method and protection concept, and it has a bright future. This study analyzes the current state of digital copyright protection in detail, discusses the benefits of applying blockchain technology in three areas: digital copyright registration and confirmation, transaction monitoring, and evidence maintenance, as well as the potential difficulties associated with the application of blockchain technology, and finally considers and proposes the system design for blockchain technology in the application of digital copyright protection. The study discovered that by utilizing blockchain technology to establish a unified blockchain digital copyright protection platform, it is possible to completely and efficiently record the entire process of copyright registration and confirmation, monitor data capture infringement, provide objective electronic evidence, reduce the cost of copyright owner rights protection, and increase the success rate of judicial remedies.

【Abstract】In the process of data collaboration, the data source copyright, equity boundaries, and other issues must be ensured to ensure the data owner's income rights. The data on the blockchain are transaction data. After the data are verified, they are added to the block by the node that has the right to keep accounts. Once the data are added to the blockchain, they cannot be deleted or changed, and only authorized query operations can be performed. At the same time, a credit contribution certification mechanism is established to ensure that the contributions are directly proportional to the rewards, and finally, a credit mechanism for data fraud is established. This paper mainly analyzes the key systems of privacy protection through research data and blockchain. The research results show that different companies conduct the Pailler homomorphic encryption of data and use the secure multiparty calculation to obtain the results. The execution of the whole process is controlled by a specific intelligent contract, and the records of the execution process are stored in the blockchain. It can be seen that the blockchain-based data distribution system changes the traditional data distribution mode so that the data source and the data user can interact directly, which promotes the maintenance of the system's security and stability.

Furthermore, Blockchain can be used as an access control mechanism to present a decentralized solution to the distributed authentication problem in the Internet of Bikes (IoB). Although several Blockchain access control mechanisms have been proposed to address the security concerns in IoB, most of them are still vulnerable to some active attacks, especially the cloning attacks. Therefore, this paper proposes a new Trust-Based Access Control Blockchain System (TBACS) to address the cloning attack based on using a secure Trusted Digital Ticket (DGT). The simulations of our solution through the Hyperledger Fabric are showing relevant results in terms of communication overhead and the detection probability of cloning attacks.
