【Abstract】This correlational study examines the most prevalent forms of harm associated with cryptocurrency speculation and the extent to which these are related to known risk factors including the fear-of-missing out (FOMO), impulsivity and problem gambling. A total of 487 crypto investors recruited from an online panel completed measures of crypto engagement, impulsivity, FOMO, problem gambling and the types of harm experienced that could be at least moderately be attributed to cryptocurrency. Individual-difference predictors of general participation were only weak predictors of the level of engagement in cryptocurrency. However, problem gambling scores (PGSI) and FOMO scores were reliable predictors of the level of harm reported, with the strongest model obtained for financial harm. The findings suggest the need to screen for speculative trading in gambling studies and that resistance to FOMO is an important element that would need to be targeted in clinical interventions for people experiencing harm.

【Abstract】Bitcoin halvings are associated with two potential phenomena: (1) they limit Bitcoin supply, potentially boosting prices, and (2) they reduce miners' revenue, which might undermine network security and lower prices. We explore Bitcoin's response to recent halvings in 2012, 2016, and 2020, aiming to identify the dominant effect. Our findings indicate that halvings slightly depress prices, increase transaction fees, decrease price volatility, and reduce miners' revenue. We document mixed reactions in other network metrics, such as the total transaction value. While Bitcoin trading dynamics markedly respond to halvings, the sensitivity of network characteristics to these events has diminished over time.

【Abstract】Applications of the blockchain technology are rapidly emerging across sectors. By redefining information flow, blockchain technology promises to instill trust among supply chain members, improve transaction efficiency, thus reshaping the structure and configuration of supply chains. The practical exploratory use of blockchain has shown immense potential in supply chain management. In order to explore the new changes brought by blockchain technology to supply chain network design issues, this study focuses on the supply chain network design problem in the context of blockchain technology. Specifically, we consider a supply chain network comprised of a number of distribution centers (DCs) and retailers. The operation of this physical network is supported by blockchain-based information infrastructure. As the interrelated relationship between these two networks, it is necessary to optimize them simultaneously to improve the profitability and information exchange level. We propose an objective function based on previous studies to maximize the profits of the entire supply chain network, with decision variables including DC locations, retailer assignment, inventory replenishment policy, and blockchain adoption level. At the same time, to characterize the interrelation between the two networks, the demand and certain cost parameters of the model become endogenous depending on the blockchain adoption level, which significantly increases the complexity of the solution algorithm. We reformulate the model and use the polymatroid cutting plane approach to address this issue. We conducted calculations and numerical analysis. The computational results show that the proposed method can solve practically sized problems, and integrating blockchain design reduces the system-wide cost. We discuss managerial insights based on a range of numerical studies and solve a case study using publicly available instance data.

【Abstract】Identifying the structural dependence between the cryptocurrencies and predicting market trend are fundamental for effective portfolio management in cryptocurrency trading. In this paper, we present a unified Bayesian machine learning framework based on potential field theory and Gaussian Process to characterize the structural dependency of various cryptocurrencies, using historic price information. The following are our significant contributions: (i) Proposed a novel model for cryptocurrency price movements as a trajectory of a dynamical system governed by a time-varying non-linear potential field. (ii) Developed a Bayesian machine learning framework for inferring the non-linear potential function from observed cryptocurrency prices. (iii) Proposed that attractors and repellers inferred from the potential field are reliable cryptocurrency market indicators, surpassing existing attributes in the literature. (iv) Analysis of cryptocurrency market during various Bitcoin crash durations shows that attractors captured the market trend, volatility, and correlation. In addition, attractors aids explainability and visualization. (v) The proposed cryptocurrency market indicators (attractors and repellers) was used to improve the prediction performance of state-of-art deep learning price prediction models.

【Abstract】With the rapid development of the world's infrastructure, we are moving towards making cities smart, known as smart cities. To make smart cities sustainable, designing efficient solutions is needed to reduce traffic congestion due to the lack of parking spaces within the constrained land areas of many metropolitan city centres. Parking problems in urban areas can be reduced by sharing vacant private parking spaces with others. In this work, we propose a decentralized and shared private parking management system using blockchain, which helps private parking owners and users fulfil their demands without the involvement of central authority. The proposed parking allocation method assigns parking to a single user from multiple parking providers, but the requester does not need to relocate between different parking spaces. The proposed method significantly improves private parking space utilization compared to a state-of-the-art parking allocation system. Hence, the system satisfies more user requests and generates more profit for parking owners than the state-of-the-art parking allocation system. The proposed system is a winning strategy because it maximizes the utilization of private parking spaces for the entire community's benefit and helps to reduce traffic congestion. Experiments conducted in the simulated environment validate the benefits of the proposed model and show that it outperforms the state-of-the-art parking allocation system. A prototype of the proposed system is also developed in the Ethereum blockchain to validate the work, and the gas cost used to deploy the proposed model is analyzed.

【Abstract】The cryptocurrency's permissionless and large-scale broadcasting requirements prohibit the traditional authentication implementation on the blockchain's underlying peer-to-peer (P2P) networking. Thus, blockchain networking implementations remain vulnerable to networking integrity threats such as spoofing or hijacking. We design Secure and Efficient Authentication using Linkage (SEAL) to build connection security for permissionless Bitcoin networking. SEAL uses the linkage between the packets for a symmetric operation, in contrast to the traditional authentication approach relying on identity-credential-based trust. To make it appropriate for cryptocurrency networking, SEAL utilizes the packet header, protects the end-to-end connection, and separates the online process and the offline process so that the real-time overhead is minimal for greater efficiency and practicality. We implement SEAL on a functioning Bitcoin node and demonstrate that SEAL operates efficiently with minimal overhead. Specifically, it reduces the hash rate by only 1.3% compared to an unsecured node. Additionally, we use a network simulator to emulate the Bitcoin Mainnet and analyze SEAL's impact on block propagation delay. SEAL yields 2.04 times smaller delay and 1.25 times smaller delay in block propagation than HMAC and ChaCha20-Poly1305, respectively. The key advantage of SEAL is that it requires fewer hash computations and simpler mixing operations, resulting in significantly lower computational overhead compared to traditional authentication schemes based on message authentication codes (MACs).

【Abstract】The popularity of ethereum for cryptocurrency transactions attracts malicious actors to engage in illegal activities like phishing, ponzi, and gambling. Previous studies have focused mainly on phishing due to the large number of phishing addresses. However, there is no work done on ponzi or gambling classification due to the limited availability of these addresses, which makes their classification more challenging. In this paper, we propose a machine learning (ML) based method for classifying malicious addresses in ethereum, with a specific focus on phishing, ponzi, and gambling addresses. We use a selective upsampling technique through the tabular generative adversarial network (GAN) to solve limited data problems. We perform not only binary but also multiclass classification on various feature extraction methods, including Trans2Vec and Node2Vec, using Ethereum transactional data. We evaluate our method on F 1 score, precision, recall, and accuracy. Our results show that the proposed method is effective in ponzi and gambling detection when compared with the state-of-the-art.

【Abstract】This paper reports on a study that investigated how the business models of Australian accounting firms are impacted by audit clients using blockchain technology. Semi-structured interviews with a range of stakeholders including audit partners from big-4 accounting firms reveal that firms are gradually adapting their business models by offering value propositions that involve efficiency, complementarities and novelty, despite a formative blockchain ecosystem in Australia. This ecosystem is characterized by clients' reluctance to use blockchain platforms for financial systems and a lack of clear direction on applicable accounting standards and consensus on blockchain standards and governance.

【Abstract】Smart contract, as the representative application of blockchain, has recently fueled extensive research interests from both academia and industry. However, with its wide applications, the weaknesses of smart contract have been gradually revealed. The major barrier to the widespread adoption of smart contract involves concerns about on-chain privacy which refers to the details of input/output privacy. To address privacy concerns, we propose in this paper, P-Chain, a privacy-aware framework for smart contracts of permissioned blockchain to protect sensitive data of users based on Secure Multi-party Computation (SMPC). Unlike existing work that suffer several key drawbacks, including introducing a third party who could get the details of the deal, and high overhead for on-chain and off-chain communication, as well as lacking a privacy protection for output data, we enhance the privacy protection for smart contracts system by adding a new secure multi-party computation layer in P-Chain. Through secure multi-party computing, sensitive inputs of smart contracts are divided into multiple sub-inputs and sent to computing participants for operation respectively, which ensures that each participant can only access part of the user's information. A stochastic strategy based on (t; t ; n ) threshold secret sharing to select calculating parties is also been proposed, which makes it difficult for an attacker to aggregate t of n participants for launching a collusive attack. In addition, we propose the output privacy protection method that makes it possible to reach a consensus without the need to know the output. The extensive experimental evaluation and analysis demonstrate that our scheme enjoys the advantages of calculation correctness, input-output privacy as well as anti-collusion.

【Abstract】With the development of Electric Vehicles (EVs), the number of public charging piles cannot meet the immediate charging needs of EV users sometimes. The charging stations provide flexible electricity transaction schemes for users by managing charging piles and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V). Users can freely choose transaction partners and submit transaction plans to multiple charging stations. The mobility of EVs results in users randomly selecting rings multiple times, which may cause them to appear in different rings. Attackers can link multiple transaction plans and infer user privacy information. The leakage of transaction information may threaten the fairness of transactions. Aiming at the above situations, a privacy protection scheme to resist ring selection attack in Peer-to- Peer double auction V2V electricity transaction for charging stations is proposed. Firstly, the ring signcryption algorithm is improved to resist ring selection attack. Secondly, a real identity verification algorithm is designed to track malicious users. Theoretical analysis proves that the security of the proposed privacy protection scheme. The elliptic curve point multiplication is used in the scheme to improve computational efficiency. Experiments show that this scheme has low computational and communication costs. Verification cost increases slowly with the increase of the number of ring members.

【Abstract】Cloud computing is currently emerging as a developing technology in which a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) is a third-party organization that provides effective storage of data and facilities to a large client base. Saving information in a cloud offers users the satisfaction of accessing it without the need for direct knowledge of the distribution and management of an infrastructure. The primary objective is to develop a novel, secure, and privacy-preserving data-sharing model that utilizes deep-based key generation on blockchain in the cloud. Data communication is done using multiple entities. The research aims to develop a collaborative data-sharing method in the cloud for the authentication scheme for cloud security on blockchain and smart contracts. Initialization, registration, key generation, authentication of data sharing, and validation are carried out here. The proposed data-sharing model involves a revenue distribution model that depends on Multiple Services (MS) models to improve multiple cloud services. The security parameters namely passwords, hashing functions, key interpolation, and encryption are used for preserving the Data privacy and here the SpinalNet is used for generating keys. Furthermore, the devised SpinalNet_Genkey obtained a value of 45.001 MB, 0.002, and 0.003 sec for memory usage, revenue, and computation cost.

【Abstract】The burgeoning field of rooftop solar panel technology has revolutionized electricity markets, empowering consumers and prosumers to exchange localized energy. Blockchain technology, with its inherent ability to facilitate peer-to-peer (P2P) energy transactions, has emerged as a pivotal player in this evolving landscape. However, despite its promise, blockchain technology in this context is still in its nascent stages, grappling with the notorious 'trilemma' of scalability, security, and decentralization. This manuscript delves into the complexities of applying blockchain technology to P2P energy trading, with a particular focus on overcoming the scalability limitations. To address this open challenge, we propose a novel blockchain-based solution named 'DYNAMO,' a decentralized market clearance system. The efficacy of this approach is validated through empirical modeling, leveraging data from a real-world case study. Our findings demonstrate that DYNAMO significantly surpasses existing base layer models in scalability, while meticulously safeguarding the fundamental principles of security and decentralization. This research represents a crucial leap forward in unlocking the full potential of blockchain technology for facilitating P2P energy trading, paving the way for a more efficient and decentralized energy future.

【Abstract】The growing complexities in supply chain management, driven by internationalization, decentralization, and modernization, are increasingly threatened by data breaches, network intrusions, and software vulnerabilities. Business stakeholders are turning to blockchain technology as a possible solution to improve modern supply chains' reliability, integration, and visibility. Blockchain provides a robust framework that supports product traceability, seamless system integration, and enhanced transparency across operations. However, despite its transformative potential, integrating blockchain into supply chain management (SCM) introduces new security risks. These include threats to the confidentiality of blockchain transactions, as attackers may employ techniques like transaction linkage and deanonymization. This paper explores the specific security challenges related to blockchain-based SCM systems, including risks related to SCM, Internet of Things (IoT) system attacks, and blockchain system vulnerabilities. Additionally, the paper presents a case study on securing the drug supply chain through blockchain technology, focusing on attribute-based identity management and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) to bolster security and transparency. This approach highlights how blockchain can enhance data privacy, improve access control and identity management, protect information integrity and traceability, and reduce the risk of counterfeit products throughout the supply chain. The paper provides valuable guidance and outlines potential directions for future research in blockchain-driven security and associated issues for supply chain networks, offering a clear roadmap for researchers.

【Abstract】This paper examines and compares intraday and intraweek patterns in hourly and daily prices, returns, volumes and volatility of native cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokens traded on Bitstamp. We show that native cryptocurrencies and tokens share common intraday periodicity determined by the operating times of the NYSE, LSE and Hang Seng stock exchange markets. Periodic patterns are also documented in the returns on cryptocurrency market portfolio approximated by the PCA applied to intraday and intraweek cross-sectional correlation matrices of cryptocurrency returns. Stablecoins have distinct dynamics and their daily and hourly returns are uncorrelated with one another and with the returns on other cryptocurrencies. We introduce a functional CAPM to accommodate the periodic patterns and estimate it by regressing the functions of intraday and intraweek cryptocurrency returns on the market portfolio. We show that the return functions on Bitcoin, Ether, and Link satisfy affine relationships with the return functions of the market portfolio and their functional betas display periodic intraday and intraweek patterns.

【Abstract】This research investigates the relationship between impending regulatory measures, specifically the introduction of European MiCa regulations, and their influence on cryptocurrency markets. Analysing stock market responses, we highlight significant shifts in liquidity, variance, and return dynamics post-MiCa-related announcements. Specifically, such announcements are associated with significant negative cryptocurrency returns and elevated liquidity. The findings reveal defined heterogeneity across different cryptocurrency sub-classes, each uniquely affected by its inherent attributes and susceptibility to regulatory changes. This work offers insights into the nature of market responses to regulatory intervention, providing an invaluable perspective on the equilibrium between cryptocurrency market behaviour and the evolving European regulatory landscape.

【Abstract】One of the main security challenges when federating separate Internet of Things (IoT) administrative domains is effective Identity and Access Management, which is required to establish trust and secure communication between federated IoT devices. The primary goal of the work is to develop a "lightweight" protocol to enable authentication and authorization of IoT devices in federated environments and ensure the secure communication of IoT devices. We propose a novel Lightweight Authentication and Authorization Framework for Federated IoT (LAAFFI) which takes advantage of the unique fingerprint of IoT devices based on their configuration and additional hardware modules, such as Physical Unclonable Function, to provide flexible authentication and authorization based on Distributed Ledger technology. Moreover, LAAFFI supports IoT devices with limited computing resources and devices not equipped with secure storage space. We implemented a prototype of LAAFFI and evaluated its performance in the Hyperledger Fabric-based IoT framework. Three main metrics were evaluated: latency, throughput (number of operations or transactions per second), and network resource utilization rate (transmission overhead introduced by the LAAFFI protocol). The performance tests conducted confirmed the high efficiency and suitability of the protocol for federated IoT environments. Also, all LAAFFI components are scalable as confirmed by tests. We formally evaluated LAAFFI security using Verifpal as a formal verification tool. Based on the models developed for Verifpal, we validated their security properties, such as message secrecy, authenticity, and freshness. Our results show that the proposed solution can improve the security of federated IoT environments while providing zero-day interoperability and high scalability. Compared to existing solutions, LAAFFI is more efficient due to the use of symmetric cryptography and algorithms adapted for operations involving IoT devices. LAAFFI supports multiple authorization mechanisms, and since it also offers authentication and accountability, it meets the requirements of Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA). It uses Distributed Ledger (DL) and smart contracts to ensure that the request complies with the policies agreed between the organizations. LAAFFI offers authentication of devices belonging to a single organization and different organizations, with the assurance that the encryption key will be shared with another device only if the appropriate security policy is met. The proposed protocol is particularly useful for ensuring the security of federated IoT environments created ad hoc for special missions, e.g., operations conducted by NATO countries and disaster relief operations Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) involving military forces and civilian services, where immediate interoperability is required.

【Abstract】To enhance bubble detection capabilities, we introduce two significant improvements to the Log-Periodic Power Law Singularity (LPPLS) model: (1) a novel fitting approach, which yields more accurate predictions of critical price distributions within a single sample window; (2) a restructured neural network approach further enhances the estimations of the probability distributions of the critical points across both time and price dimensions, and it can be fine-tuned with real-world data. The simulation and practical applications to typical asset price bubbles in cryptocurrencies, commodities, and equity indices demonstrate that our refined model, the Generalized-LPPLS Neural Network (G-LPPLS-NN), outperforms all other models we examined in terms of predictive accuracy for critical point distributions.

该模型包含一级链Ms-Raft(Multi-strategy-Raft)算法、二级链R-PBFT(Reliability-Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance)算法和智能合约算法,一级链和二级链通过哈希锁定相互锚定,保证数据传输的可靠性。
