【Abstract】GameFi is a portmanteau of "game" and "finance." The concept involves blockchain games that offer economic incentives to play, otherwise known as play-to-earn (P2E) games. We explain in detail how GameFi differs from traditional games, and carve out its unique value proposition. We also explore how the mechanics of blockchain games influence the social facet of P2E games, where guilds and clans essentially function as profit-sharing organizations. GameFi leverages disparate elements of the crypto space: tokens, DeFi, and NFTs. Lastly, we discuss in detail some of the challenges of GameFi.

【Abstract】With the growth of the Internet, an increasing number of online matching platforms have emerged. However, current online matching platforms need to address three open challenges to improve user experience: (1) trans-parency and inherent issues with centralized platforms; (2) privacy concerns of users' sensitive information; and (3) high service fees for matching services. In this paper, we propose a Privacy-preserved On-chain Matching Framework (POMF) that is suitable for a broad range of matching scenarios to overcome the challenges above simultaneously. In order to address the first challenge, POMF is constructed via the decentralized blockchain, based on which smart contracts are utilized to execute matching services automatically and publicly. To address the second challenge, we combine Order-Preserved Encryption (OPE) with Software Guard Extensions (SGX) to design a privacy-preserved on-chain matching mechanism that can enable information matching among different users in the encrypted domain, while revealing only order information and maintaining confidentiality. To address the third challenge, we optimize the OPE algorithm to reduce its computing and communication overhead, which further reduces the matching service fee. Besides, we ensure the fairness of POMF by designing a reasonable price mechanism that prices the contact information based on the matching degree between the involved matched users. Finally, we prove the availability of POMF via an comprehensive analysis and demonstrate the practicality of POMF by implementing a prototype and deploying it on a Fabric test network with extensive simulations.

【Abstract】With the expansion of the scale of construction projects, the safety situation of construction projects has become more and more severe, and strengthening near-miss event management can effectively improve the safety management level of building construction sites and prevent safety accidents from occurring. However, the traditional monitoring and early warning systems rely on manual supervision, which is heavy and inefficient and cannot detect near-miss events in time. In the context of big data, blockchain technology, which is widely used, has the characteristics of decentralization, distrust, openness, nontamperability, and traceability, which can improve the safety of building construction sites to a certain extent. The primary objective of this study is to automatically monitor and early warn of near-miss events at building construction sites through the use of blockchain technology to effectively avoid the occurrence of building construction site safety accidents and reduce the incidence of safety accidents. To achieve this objective, we first constructed a knowledge base of near-miss events at building construction sites. Then, the near-miss event monitoring and early warning system for building construction sites based on blockchain technology was established. Finally, the near-miss incidents of not wearing safety belts working at height, which exists on the construction site, were used as an example to verify the feasibility and reliability of the monitoring and early warning system. The results show that the monitoring and early warning system has strong feasibility and practicability, and has certain research value. As the primary contribution, this paper developed a method of using blockchain technology for near-miss event monitoring and early warnings at building construction sites, which can realize real-time monitoring and automatic early warning, detect near-miss events in time, help trace the responsibility of events at a later stage, and improve the safety management level of building construction sites. This study suggests that blockchain technology can somewhat improve the safety management level of construction sites. This study developed a method for near-miss event monitoring and early warning at building construction sites by employing blockchain technology. The application of blockchain in the field of construction safety has attracted more and more attention, but the research on construction site safety is still in its infancy. With the continuous development and growth of the construction industry, construction site safety accidents occur frequently, but each accident is preceded by the occurrence of near-miss incidents. If near-miss events can be reduced and the management of near-miss events can be strengthened, the occurrence of safety accidents at building construction sites can be effectively reduced. In this paper, we introduce blockchain technology to secure data transmission and access using hash algorithms, realize timely warnings using smart contracts, verify and store data using blockchain data structures, and generate and update data using distributed nodes. By establishing a monitoring and early warning system for near-miss events at building construction sites based on blockchain technology, the occurrence of near-miss events can be effectively prevented and controlled, and the incidence of safety accidents can be reduced.

【Abstract】We introduce a general framework for empirically detecting interactions in communities of entities characterized by different features. This approach is inspired by ideas and methods coming from ecology and finance and is applied to a large dataset extracted from the cryptocurrency market. The inter-species interaction network is constructed using a similarity measure based on the log-growth rate of the capitalizations of the cryptocurrency market. The detected relevant interactions are only of the cooperative type, and the network presents a well-defined clustered structure, with two practically disjointed communities. The first one is made up of highly capitalized cryptocurrencies that are tightly connected, and the second one is made up of small-cap cryptocurrencies that are loosely linked. This approach based on the log-growth rate, instead of the conventional price returns, seems to enhance the discriminative potential of the network representation, highlighting a modular structure with compact communities and a rich hierarchy that can be ascribed to different functional groups. In fact, inside the community of the more capitalized coins, we can distinguish between clusters composed of some of the more popular first-generation cryptocurrencies, and clusters made up of second-generation cryptocurrencies. Alternatively, we construct the network of directed interactions by using the partial correlations of the log-growth rate. This network displays the important centrality of Bitcoin, discloses a core cluster containing a branch with the most capitalized first-generation cryptocurrencies, and emphasizes interesting correspondences between the detected direct pair interactions and specific features of the related currencies. As risk strongly depends on the interaction structure of the cryptocurrency system, these results can be useful for assisting in hedging risks. The inferred network topology suggests fewer probable widespread contagions. Moreover, as the riskier coins do not strongly interact with the others, it is more difficult that they can drive the market to more fragile states.

【Abstract】Aerial warfare systems in various countries highly expect Swarm Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Flying Adhoc Networks (FANETs) for defense stability. However, swarm UAVs face many challenges, like security breaches, malfunctions, link failures, and handover failures. UAVs can easily malfunction by external threats to create data loss, theft, signal jamming, misrouting, false handover, and location spoofing. Failures in UAV handover principles make overall gradual downtime in FANET. Against these issues, existing UAV protection mechanisms deliver location monitoring mechanisms (graphs and trees), multi-link handover mechanisms, and distributed authentication principles. However, the implantation of recent-day techniques may fail against migrating attacker events executed in electronic warfare systems. The existing security methods need improvements for protecting Multi-UAV layers effectively through end-to-end security principles. For this purpose, a new Reactive Handover Coordination System with Regenerative Blockchain (RHCRB) Principles is proposed that takes novel high-security features specially made for swarm UAVs. The proposed RHCRB implements more crucial distributed functions in each UAV on demand. The executed operations of RHCRB comprise trusted location monitoring schemes (internal and cooperative UAV movements), dynamic location-based cost magnitude calculations, regenerative blockchain principles (authentication of each UAV and active edges), confidential link management principles, secure handover coordination, and on-demand topology management principles. The technical aspects of RHCRB build lightweight and shielded handover principles against airfield vulnerabilities. The proposed model suggests implementing an entirely protected handover environment from node localization to handover events. The inspired technical aspects of RHCRB contribute to the swarm UAV environment through confidentiality using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and distributed authentication (blockchain-based node and edge management) principles to engage protected handover practices. The experimental section of this article has been tested using testbed in FlyNetSim tool for implementing RHCRB and notable recent security techniques such as the Internet of Vehicles with Decentralized Blockchains (IoV-DB), Group Handover for Internet of Defense (GH-IoD), and Handover and Optimized Security Principles for UAVs (HOOPOE). The results obtained by this system show RHCRB's 8% to 14% of betterment than existing techniques through various measures.

【Abstract】In recent years, the rapid growth of virtual reality has opened up new possibilities for creating immersive virtual worlds known as metaverses. With advancements in technology, such as virtual reality headsets, and the emergence of applications with social interaction, metaverses offer exciting opportunities for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. This article proposes the integration of metaverses into STEM courses, enabling students to forge connections between different subjects within their curriculum, to leverage current technological advancements, and to revolutionize project presentations and audience interaction. Drawing upon a case study conducted with students enrolled in the "Proyectos RII 1: Organizacion y Escenarios" course at the Escuela Politecnica Superior de Alcoy of the Technical University of Valencia (Spain), this article provides a comprehensive description of the methodology employed by the students and professors. It outlines the process followed, shedding light on the innovative use of metaverses in their projects. Moreover, the article shares valuable insights obtained through surveys and personal opinions gathered from students throughout the course and upon its completion. By exploring the intersection of metaverses and STEM education, this study showcases the transformative potential of integrating interactive virtual environments. Furthermore, this work highlights the benefits of increased student engagement, motivation, and collaboration, as well as the novel ways in which projects can be presented and interactions with audiences can be redefined.

【Abstract】This study analyses the evolution of the crypto asset market over the period 2014-2023 and addresses a series of issues relating to global crypto-assets regulations uniformity, the opportunity for companies to develop crypto-asset transactions, and the accounting reflection of these transactions that impacts the sustainable reporting. Working hypotheses are twofold: (a) crypto assets transactions present an increased investment risk and (b) there is mutual consensus on the accounting valuation of crypto assets. Robust economic analysis using ARCH, GARCH, TGARCH, and EGARCH models points to interesting conclusions on uncertainty and investment risk in these emerging technologies. The results are significant for business purposes and indicate that investments in ETH and USDT currencies can be classified as medium-risk investments. The impact of negative shocks (such as political instability, wars, pandemics, and other) on USDT can be verified, leading to more volatility in the currency.

【Abstract】Smart healthcare is based on the electronic health and medical histories of residents, combined with information technology (IT) which can be used to construct a variety of systems including humanised health management systems and convenient medical service systems. The transparency, traceability, decentralization and security of BC technology and machine learning (ML) will enable the medical sector to upgrade and optimise different forms of quality and service. Therefore, this study introduces an artificial rabbit optimizer with deep learning for Blockchain Assisted Secure Smart Healthcare System (ARODL-BSSHS) technique. The presented ARODL-BSSHS technique designs a new healthcare monitoring technique by using blockchain (BC) technology and classifies the presence of malicious activities in the healthcare system, and takes needed actions to predict the disease. For intrusion detection, the ARODL-BSSHS technique exploits the ARO algorithm with Hop field neural network (IHNN) model. On the other hand, the ARODL-BSSHS technique applies a deep extreme learning machine (DELM) model for disease detection purposes. Finally, the heap-based optimization (HBO) technique is exploited as a hyperparameter optimizer for the DELM model. The ARODL-BSSHS technique involves BC technology for the secure transmission of healthcare data. A series of simulations were carried out on benchmark datasets: heart disease and NSL-KDD database for examining the performance of the ARODL-BSSHS technique. The experimental values highlighted that the ARODL-BSSHS method obtains superior performance than other approaches.

【Abstract】Introduction: Modern FinTech tools (e.g., instant payments, blockchain, roboadvisor) represent the new frontier of digital finance. Consequently, the evaluation of the knowledge level of the population about these topics is a crucial concern. In this context, several exogenous factors may influence individual differences in financial literacy. In particular, the territorial characteristics can have an impact on FinTech. In this work, we investigate individual heterogeneity in subjective financial knowledge in Italy, specifically focusing on modern FinTech tools, and exploring the differences at the individual and regional levels. Methods: A sample of 598 Italian individuals from 10 different Italian regions was involved. A multilevel IRT model is performed to evaluate the level of FinTech individual knowledge and the differences according to Italian regions to account for the hierarchical structure of the data. Results: Results reported a weak regional effect, revealing that heterogeneity in financial knowledge can be mainly attributed to individual characteristics. At the individual level, age, economic condition, knowledge of traditional financial objects and numeracy showed a significant effect. In addition, a scientific field of study and work have an impact on respondents' knowledge level.Discussion: What is shown and discussed in this contribution can inspire policymakers' actions to increase financial literacy in the population. In particular, the obtained results imply that policymakers should improve the population's awareness of less popular FinTech tools and foster individuals' literacy about numbers and traditional financial tools, which proved to have a great influence in explaining FinTech knowledge differences.

How Chinese fintech threatens US Dollar hegemony

【Author】 Tharappel, Jayanth

【Abstract】This article will argue that the development of Chinese financial technology, or 'fintech', over the past decade, is primarily motivated to safeguard Chinese monetary sovereignty, which is threatened by the proliferation of non-state cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, that have exacerbated the problem of capital flight, not only for China, but for other non-Western countries that have lost fortunes to outflows seeking access Western financial assets. This raises the question, how is China responding to the emergence of cryptocurrencies as a development that reinforces US financial hegemony? The answer to be explored by this paper is by embracing elements of cryptocurrency technology in the form of digital payment systems and blockchain technology. These Chinese fintech developments pose a serious unprecedented challenge to the financial hegemony of the US insofar as it compels other countries to copy the Chinese response because they desire the tools to limit illegal outflows of capital that have historically propped up the US Dollar.

【Abstract】The use of Metaverse became popular to overcome the limitations of 2D e-learning. Metaverse has undergone significant changes in terms of application types, software, platform, and devices. Therefore, the emergence of the Metaverse influences users, especially students and teachers of different educational fields, in accepting or rejecting the use of the Metaverse. The PRISMA study aims to map the trends of changes in the use of Metaverse in education and examine its perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use from 2008 to 2022. The research findings are concluded as follows: (1) the trend of change from a single platform or software of the Metaverse to a more diverse combination of software and devices among the types of Metaverse in education; (2) the importance of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use in the acceptance and rejection of the use of Metaverse in education. Future research suggests exploring the perceived usefulness and ease of use for a broader range of education fields, and considering different types in relation to the design of Metaverse platforms and devices.

【Abstract】Blockchain technology and smart contracts have huge potential which has not been exploited fully yet. The main objective of this paper is to showcase the powerful attributes of blockchain technology and smart contracts, showcasing our unique and powerful use case of document verification in the field of higher education using the Ethereum protocol. Our smart contract use case will take advantage of the main attributes of blockchain technology to solve the problem of document forgery. These amazing attributes are immutability, censorship resistance, extreme robusticity, transparency, and neutrality, in addition to near-perfect availability and decentralization. Ethereum enables developers to create decentralized applications without having to invest in expensive infrastructure. Document forgery has a very long track record in the education sector and academia. In this digital age, it has become frighteningly simple and inexpensive to acquire fake university diplomas, certificates, and many other types of credentials. This has a long-term negative effect on higher-level education because it damages the healthy competitive environment of students and the reputation and credibility of institutions. The most problematic version of the diploma which is the most susceptible to forgery is physical diplomas. Even with relatively expensive and difficult-to-replicate security elements, such as holograms and special security markings, these are not efficient enough to keep bad actors away from trying to forge them and replicate them. The more complex methods we use for preventing physical document forgery, the more knowledge and unique nature of anti-forgery methods and materials one has to look for during examination. The verification process of continually evolving and chang-ing physical forgery prevention stamps, materials, holograms and others are expensive to automate the verification procedure and introduces additional human labor cost (training staff, hiring new employees, hiring trainers and forgery specialists). Therefore the best prevention method for replication is to build a system that makes it infeasible to even try to commit forgery. Usu-ally, when an employer asks for the diploma, the student sends an electronic photocopy of the document to them or scans it. This completely nullifies the effect of holograms, watermarks, special UV active materials, and all other physical security elements. Even with the use of centralized electronic document verification systems, data manipulation is still possible, in addition, such a system introduces the concept of having to trust a third party for verification and single point of failure, in addition to lack of transparency, immutability, and data availability. An ideal solution would be one that is trustless, transparent, immutable, and always accessible. Blockchain technology offers the optimal solution to document forgery. In this article, we will showcase our Ethereum smart contract solution and all of the crucial aspects of document integrity.
