P-PBFT: An improved blockchain algorithm to support large-scale pharmaceutical traceability

【Abstract】To solve the problems of high latency, high system overhead, and small supported scale in the current application of pharmaceutical traceability combined with blockchain technology, an algorithm called Pharmaceutical -Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (P-PBFT) based on PBFT, grouping, and credit voting is proposed. The al-gorithm combines the characteristics of a pharmaceutical supply chain, optimizes the consistency protocol in the original algorithm, divides large-scale network nodes into different consensus sets by response speed, and per-forms grouping consensus. The algorithm's credit model and voting mechanism dynamically updates user status according to the behavior of nodes in consensus, evaluates the reliability of users, and also serves as a basis for electing management nodes. Experimental results show that the improved P-PBFT consensus algorithm provides smaller latency and higher throughput for pharmaceutical traceability systems, supports larger-scale traceability, effectively alleviates the dramatic increase in communication among network nodes, and reduces the influence of malicious nodes.

Artificial Identification: A Novel Privacy Framework for Federated Learning Based on Blockchain

【Abstract】To provide off-chain federations with complete privacy services to realize on-chain federated learning (FL), this article proposes a novel privacy framework for FL based on blockchain and smart contracts, named Artificial Identification. It consists of two modules: private peer-to-peer identification and private FL, using two scalable smart contracts to manage the identification and learning process, respectively. Based on Ethereum and interplenary file systems (IPFS), we implement our framework and comprehensively analyze its performance. Experiments show that the proposed framework has acceptable collaboration costs and offers advantages in terms of privacy, security, and decentralization. Furthermore, combined with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, the framework has the potential to realize automatic on-chain identification and autonomous FL of machine clusters composed of Internet of Things (IoT) devices or distributed participants.

SanJeeVni: Secure UAV-Envisioned Massive Vaccine Distribution for COVID-19 Underlying 6G Network

【Abstract】Recently, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are deployed in Novel Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID- 19) vaccine distribution process. To address issues of fake vaccine distribution, real-time massive UAV monitoring and control at nodal centers (NCs), the authors propose SanJeeVni, a blockchain (BC)-assisted UAV vaccine distribution at the backdrop of sixth-generation (6G) enhanced ultra-reliable low latency communication (6G-eRLLC) communication. The scheme considers user registration, vaccine request, and distribution through a public Solana BC setup, which assures a scalable transaction rate. Based on vaccine requests at production setups, UAV swarms are triggered with vaccine delivery to NCs. An intelligent edge offloading scheme is proposed to support UAV coordinates and routing path setups. The scheme is compared against fifth-generation ( 5G) uRLLC communication. In the simulation, we achieve and 86% improvement in service latency, 12.2% energy reduction of UAV with 76.25% more UAV coverage in 6G-eRLLC, and a significant improvement of approximate to 199.76% in storage cost against the Ethereum network, which indicates the scheme efficacy in practical setups.

Contract-Theory-Based Secure Spectrum Sharing Framework in Internet of Vehicles

【Abstract】Internet of vehicles (IoV) enables a large number of applications for consumers by integrating massive electronics, which aggravates the spectrum scarcity and data security, and degrades the quality of services (QoS) and experiences of consumers obviously. Focusing on enhancing the security and improving spectrum utilization, this article proposes a contract-theory-based secure spectrum sharing framework, which adopts the consortium blockchain to guarantee security of spectrum sharing and utilizes the practical Byzantine fault tolerant consensus algorithm to achieve consensus in IoV. Smart contracts are then formed based on insurance contracts to promote primary users to share their idle spectrum resources. A preference-based spectrum allocation algorithm is designed to maximize the total utility of secondary users (SUs). Simulation results show that, compared with the existing schemes, the proposed scheme achieves better performance in terms of the utility of SUs and the spectrum utilization greatly, which provides more access opportunities to consumers in IoV.

【Abstract】Nowadays, medical certificates are very important for many users as they want to avail health benefits like tax purposes, insurance claims, legal procedures, and many more. Generating, issuing, and maintaining medical certificates remain a significant problem; before the invention of the computer, they were available as hard copies. The digitization of medical certificates and documents leads to potential security issues, such as forging of certificates risks the privacy of healthcare documents. Moreover, individuals still need to be physically present and wait at the issuing healthcare centers to get the certificates. Currently, the infrastructure of any healthcare industry connects the Internet of Things (IoT) devices and application software that communicates with the information technology systems. Blockchain technology with IoT can significantly affect the healthcare industry by improving efficiency, security, transparency, and can provide more business opportunities. Therefore, a privacy-preserving technique has been proposed in this article for IoT-based healthcare systems using blockchain technology. The proposed architecture provides an interface between the users and healthcare centers to generate and maintain healthcare documents. Furthermore, the proposed scheme ensures security by specifying rules with a smart contract. Results and discussion show that the proposed scheme is more efficient than the existing schemes.

【Abstract】The threat of cyber-attacks is ever increasing in today's society. There is a clear need for better and more effective defensive tools. Intrusion detection can be defined as the detection of anomalous behavior either in the host or in the network. An intrusion detection system can be used to identify the anomalous behavior of the system. The two major tasks of intrusion detection are to monitor data and raise an alert to the system administrators when an intrusion takes place. The current intrusion detection system is incapable of tackling sophisticated attacks which take place on the entire network containing large number of nodes while maintaining a low number of login attempts on each node in the system. A collaborative intrusion detection system (CIDS) was designed to remove the inefficiency of the current intrusion detection system which failed to detect coordinated distributed attacks. The main problem in the CIDS is the concept of trust. Hosts in the network need to trust the data sent by other peers in the network. To bring in the concept of trust and implement the proof-of-concept, blockchain was used. Pluggable authentication modules (PAM) were also used to track login activity securely before an intruder could modify the login activity. To implement blockchain, an Ethereum-based private blockchain was used.

Risks in Major Cryptocurrency Markets: Modeling the Dual Long Memory Property and Structural Breaks

【Abstract】This study estimates the effects of the dual long memory property and structural breaks on the persistence level of six major cryptocurrency markets. We apply the Bai and Perron structural break test, Inclan and Tiao's iterated cumulative sum of squares (ICSS) algorithm, and the fractionally integrated generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (FIGARCH) model, with different distributions. The results show that long memory and structural breaks characterize the conditional volatility of cryptocurrency markets, confirming our hypothesis that ignoring structural breaks leads to an underestimation of the persistence of volatility modeling. The ARFIMA-FIGARCH model, with structural breaks and a skewed Student-t distribution, fits the cryptocurrency market's price dynamics well.

A Blockchain-Based Authentication and Authorization Scheme for Distributed Mobile Cloud Computing Services

【Abstract】Authentication and authorization constitute the essential security component, access control, for preventing unauthorized access to cloud services in mobile cloud computing (MCC) environments. Traditional centralized access control models relying on third party trust face a critical challenge due to a high trust cost and single point of failure. Blockchain can achieve the distributed trust for access control designs in a mutual untrustworthy scenario, but it also leads to expensive storage overhead. Considering the above issues, this work constructed an authentication and authorization scheme based on blockchain that can provide a dynamic update of access permissions by utilizing the smart contract. Compared with the conventional authentication scheme, the proposed scheme integrates an extra authorization function without additional computation and communication costs in the authentication phase. To improve the storage efficiency and system scalability, only one transaction is required to be stored in blockchain to record a user's access privileges on different service providers (SPs). In addition, mobile users in the proposed scheme are able to register with an arbitrary SP once and then utilize the same credential to access different SPs with different access levels. The security analysis indicates that the proposed scheme is secure under the random oracle model. The performance analysis clearly shows that the proposed scheme possesses superior computation and communication efficiencies and requires a low blockchain storage capacity for accomplishing user registration and updates.

Bitcoin: A life in crises

【Abstract】In this study, we investigate the BTC price time-series (17 August 2010-27 June 2021) and show that the 2017 pricing episode is not unique. We describe at least ten new events, which occurred since 2010-2011 and span more than five orders of price magnitudes ($US 1 -$US 60k). We find that those events have a similar duration of approx. 50-100 days. Although we are not able to predict times of a price peak, we however succeed to approximate the BTC price evolution using a function that is similar to a Fibonacci sequence. Finally, we complete a comparison with other types of financial instruments (equities, currencies, gold) which suggests that BTC may be classified as an illiquid asset.

You Can't Hide Behind Your Headset: User Profiling in Augmented and Virtual Reality

【Abstract】Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR and VR), collectively known as Extended Reality (XR), are increasingly gaining traction thanks to their technical advancement and the need for remote connections, recently accentuated by the pandemic. Remote surgery, telerobotics, and virtual offices are only some examples of their successes. As users interact with XR, they generate extensive behavioral data usually leveraged for measuring human activity, which could be used for profiling users' identities or personal information (e.g., gender). However, several factors affect the efficiency of profiling, such as the technology employed, the action taken, the mental workload, the presence of bias, and the sensors available. To date, no study has considered all of these factors together and in their entirety, limiting the current understanding of XR profiling. In this work, we provide a comprehensive study on user profiling in virtual technologies (i.e., AR, VR). Specifically, we employ machine learning on behavioral data (i.e., head, controllers, and eye data) to identify users and infer their individual attributes (i.e., age, gender). Toward this end, we propose a general framework that can potentially infer any personal information from any virtual scenarios. We test our framework on eleven generic actions (e.g., walking, searching, pointing) involving low and high mental loads, derived from two distinct use cases: an AR everyday application (34 participants) and VR robot teleoperation (35 participants). Our framework limits the burden of creating technology- and action-dependent algorithms, also reducing the experimental bias evidenced in previous work, providing a simple (yet effective) baseline for future works. We identified users up to 97% F1-score in VR and 80% in AR. Gender and Age inference was also facilitated in VR, reaching up to 82% and 90% F1-score, respectively. Through an in-depth analysis of sensors' impact, we found VR profiling resulting more effective than AR mainly because of the eye sensors' presence.

Proof of Work Consensus Based Peer to Peer Energy Trading in the Indian Residential Community

【Abstract】Rooftop solar power generation is becoming more widespread in residential microgrids. As well as new concepts of electricity markets, such as peer-to-peer (P2P) markets, where consumers and prosumers can directly exchange locally generated energy with each other without any intermediary third party for sustainable development. Data security is a big concern with energy trading; therefore, blockchain technology is being used more and more in energy markets. It has the potential to simplify P2P energy trading. In this paper, blockchain is designed to fit into the decentralized nature of the P2P market, securing the payment mechanism and transaction data store. The blockchain-enabled platform is developed using the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm, and is verified with the help of the Postman application programming interface (API). All transactions involving the buying and selling of energy are handled by a miner without the help of any third parties. The study of a five-user residential community, whether the strategy is recommended or not, is validated through simulation findings. An overview of the results revealed that all users benefited from the developed, secure P2P platform.

【Abstract】The typical food traceability system's data layer is made up of relational databases managed by core businesses, which cannot ensure data security. It is inefficient and requires a lot of upkeep. The food supply chain has numerous actors, making it difficult for consumers to safeguard their rights when purchasing food with quality issues. Due to the numerous organizations involved in the food supply chain, food safety monitoring and traceability have become challenging. The supply chain's major organizations have control and administrative authority over the data under the current food traceability system, which is overly centralized for traceability information. The safety and dependability of food may be ensured by using the food traceability system to track food information. We can witness a series of detailed insights into food from the manufacturing source to the consumption terminal. A blockchain-based food tracking system is created as a solution to these issues. On the Ethereum platform, the system was created. It was also employed in the blockchain system, in addition to its features of decentralization, tamper-proof, and traceability. To implement the data update service and the food recall function, introduce the Food and Drug Administration node. Consumers have the option to not only enquire about food traceability throughout the manufacturing process but also to file complaints regarding the traceability system's rights protection.

Aortic wall shear stress in bicuspid aortic valve disease-10-year follow-up

【Abstract】Background: Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) disease leads to deviant helical flow patterns especially in the mid-ascending aorta (AAo), potentially causing wall alterations such as aortic dilation and dissection. Among others, wall shear stress (WSS) could contribute to the prediction of long-term outcome of patients with BAV. 4D flow in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has been established as a valid method for flow visualization and WSS estimation. The aim of this study is to reevaluate flow patterns and WSS in patients with BAV 10 years after the initial evaluation.Methods: Fifteen patients (median age 34.0 years) with BAV were re-evaluated 10 years after the initial study from 2008/2009 using 4D flow by CMR. Our particular patient cohort met the same inclusion criteria as in 2008/2009, all without enlargement of the aorta or valvular impairment at that time. Flow patterns, aortic diameters, WSS and distensibility were calculated in different aortic regions of interest (ROI) with dedicated software tools.Results: Indexed aortic diameters in the descending aorta (DAo), but especially in the AAo did not change in the 10-year period. Median difference 0.05 cm/m2 (95% CI: 0.01 to 0.22; P=0.06) for AAo and median difference -0.08 cm/m2 (95% CI: -0.12 to 0.01; P=0.07) for DAo. WSS values were lower in 2018/2019 at all measured levels. Aortic distensibility decreased by median 25.6% in the AAo, while stiffness increased concordantly (median +23.6%).Conclusions: After a ten years' follow-up of patients with isolated BAV disease, indexed aortic diameters did not change in this patient cohort. WSS was lower compared to values generated 10 years earlier. Possibly a drop of WSS in BAV could serve as a marker for a benign long-term course and implementation of more conservative treatment strategies.

A blockchain-based framework for circular end-of-life vehicle processing

【Abstract】The transition of the automotive industry to a circular economy (CE) is related to the significant environmental and social impacts of its products, which are resource-intensive in terms of materials and energy, both in the production and usage phases, as well as in their end-of-life. A blockchain provides a transparent, secure, and accessible information network by providing a decentralized ledger where materials can be traced to their sources. This paper investigates blockchain as a promising technology for the facilitation of a CE transition in the automotive industry. While there is considerable conceptual and theoretical research on this blockchain-based transition, this study is the first to propose a blockchain-based framework for improving the traceability and efficiency of end-of-life vehicle (ELV) processing, called ELVTrac. The suggested architecture is built on circular economy principles, blockchain technology, and smart contracts. The architecture incorporates the various stakeholders involved in and the smart contracts that orchestrate their tasks. Thus, we develop a prototype using the Ethereum blockchain to prove its feasibility and conduct experiments and tests to evaluate its performance.

【摘要】区块链是结合分布式架构、密码学以及激励机制等方法构建的一个分布式系统,具有不可篡改性、去中心化和不可伪造性等特点,实现了在不受信任的环境下实现安全的点对点交易,受到广泛关注。但是区块链技术存在着系统效能较低的问题,无法被大规模落地应用。从区块链的数据结构和发展趋势出发,对目前区块链存在的性能问题进行了分析,针对存在的问题,从链上扩容、链下扩容两个方面进行归纳讨论,从分片、有向无环图等主流方法全面总结分析了目前区块链扩容技术的最新研究进展并且在链上扩容部分加入了与深度强化学习相结合的优化方法,并在最后对未来的区块链优化方向提出了展望,以期对未来区块链吞吐量提升的研究提供参考和借鉴。

【摘要】加密数字货币借助于区块链等新兴技术,呈现出去中心化、自治化、跨界化的特点,研究其监管技术不仅有助于打击基于加密数字货币的犯罪活动,而且可为区块链技术在其他领域的扩展提供可行的监管方案。但目前针对加密数字货币监管技术的综述研究较少,亟须进行全面梳理。基于加密数字货币的应用特点,定义并阐述了加密数字货币产生、兑换和流通周期理论(GEC周期理论),详细分析了国际和国内频发引起的加密数字货币犯罪事件,重点调研了加密数字货币在每个周期中的安全监管技术的研究现状。最后,总结了加密数字货币的监管平台生态体系和监管技术现面临的挑战等方面,并展望了未来监管研究方向,以期为后续研究提供参考。

【摘要】去中心化的Web3概念不仅已引发全球加密货币爱好者、科技巨头以及风险投资公司的兴趣,更是对全球影视产业产生着深远的影响力。本文从影视创作新变化、影视产业新形态两方面来论述Web3对影视产业的改变,指出Web3所带来的Film3状态,形成了影视产业跨地域、跨媒介、跨物种、跨虚实的不断增厚的立体网络生态系统。

区块链嵌入乡村治理:优势、困境与对策——对党的二十大报告“建设社会治理共同体”的思考

【摘要】区块链嵌入乡村治理赋予乡村以新的生机和未来,是乡村治理模式的又一创新。党的二十大报告提出构建人人有责、人人尽责、人人享有的社会治理共同体。区块链技术具有可信性、透明性、不可篡改、可溯性以及整合性等特点,优化基层治理流程,满足了提升基层治理效能的重要要求。在嵌入乡村治理过程中,具有构建协商协作平台,推动治理主体多元化;打造全面信息系统,促进治理过程透明化;创新精准识别机制,实现治理行动高效化等优势。但也存在一些困境,诸如技术体系及配套建设不完善、相关法规及政策制度不健全、技术人才储备及其技能不足,阻碍了区块链嵌入乡村治理的进程。为推动区块链嵌入乡村治理的进一步发展,助力乡村振兴,有以下对策:构建区块链技术应用体系,完善配套基础设施;建立健全相关规章制度,营造良好的发展环境;打通人才培养路径,增强人才吸纳能力。

共享经济统计实践面临的局限性与改进思路

【摘要】共享经济是一种社会闲置资源再配置的新商业模式,其相关统计工作面临诸如“统计分类难以识别统计对象、统计抽样遗漏交易活动、统计数据难以采集”等挑战。对此,通过梳理国内外关于共享经济统计的实践经验及共性问题,对中国共享经济统计中的统计对象、统计指标和调查方法三个方面提出了改进思路。进一步,根据中国统计现代化建设的发展趋势,在数字化技术对统计数据质量的影响机制基础上,构建了一套以区块链为技术核心的共享经济统计数据互联生态体系,用于启发解决新产业、新业态、新商业模式(简称“三新”)统计数据的质量问题。研究发现:一是现阶段的共享经济具有规模化发展特征,这导致了社会对其认知尚未达成共识;二是现行统计分类标准主要以一般经济活动为设计对象,较难识别居民个人和小微企业创新的闲置资源共享活动;三是共享经济范围不明确时,简单的统计指标无法有效地将共享经济与其他经济活动的统计数据进行区分和剥离;四是低频的统计抽样方式会遗漏共享经济平台化的高频交易。为解决共享经济的统计问题,提出三点建议:一是开展专项调查建立共享经济的企业调查名录,以此明确统计对象;二是针对互联网平台交易特征,利用大数据抽样技术扩展统计调查手段,用于捕获共享交易活动;三是利用区块链技术构建共享经济统计框架提高统计数据的质量。

一种可证安全的权益有向无环图共识机制

【摘要】给出了一个可证明安全的共识机制。该机制主要由委员会协议和交易确认算法构成。委员会协议用于从共识节点中选出主动性强且权益较大的节点组成动态迭代的委员会,以并行处理区块链中用户产生的常规净交易。交易确认算法基于委员会成员所发出的链交易形成的有向无环图,通过有向无环图的直接和间接引用计算常规净交易被委员会成员确认的次数,当某个常规净交易被不少于委员会成员数量的2/3确认后,该常规净交易就被写入链中。在一些公认的假设下,证明了共识机制具有一致性和可结束性。进一步,我们初步搭建了基于该共识的区块链系统,测试了系统的性能,测试结果与理论估计相符。在部署16个委员会成员,交易批量为10~(6)时,测试系统的交易吞吐量约17000 个交易每秒;对比目前较为高效的HoneyBadger BFT共识协议,在相同配置下,该协议的交易吞吐量约2600个交易每秒,相差约6倍。
