【Abstract】Current cryptocurrency indices are generally capitalization-or volume-weighted, assigning heavy weights to leading coins like Bitcoin. Such indices offer limited risk diversification and limited exposure to the success of altcoins. We propose the Smart Beta Indices of Cryptocurrencies (SBICs), which weight the components based on their dynamic risks and dependency structure. The SBICs provide better risk diversification, adding 0.13-0.31 Sharpe ratios and 24.42%-31.61% annualized returns over the cap-weighted index. The SBICs produce significant alphas using a cryptocurrency five-factor model that controls for exposures to the market, size, value, reversal, and betting-against-cryptocurrency-beta risks. Our results from the cryptocurrency market challenge a traditional opinion that smart beta outperformance generally results from the greater assumption of factor risks.

【Abstract】Using a new emotion-mining technique, we quantify visceral emotions among Bitcoin investors and investigate whether an empirical connection exists between micro-level visceral emotions and macro-level price dynamics in the cryptocurrency market. We find that cryptocurrency market investors carry visceral emotions. Bitcoin's intraday volatility and trading volume are associated with visceral emotions. This association is more salient for negative emotions. This form of emotional trading can cause a more behavioral group of investors to perform poorly in the cryptocurrency market.

【Abstract】Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are widely deployed in military surveillance operations, especially the quadcopter UAVs which are easy to operate and considerably quieter. However, UAVs encounter problems in secure path planning during navigation and are prone to cyber security attacks. Further, due to the UAV battery capacity, the operating time for surveillance is limited. In this paper, we propose a novel Resilient UAV Path Optimization Algorithm (RUPOA) which provides an optimal path under security attacks such as denial-of-service (DoS) and Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks. The performance efficiency of the proposed path planning algorithm is compared with the existing path planning algorithms based on execution time. To achieve secure path planning in UAVs and to mitigate security attacks, a blockchain-aided security solution is proposed. To prevent security attacks, smart contracts are generated where the devices are registered with gasLimit. The blockchain consensus mechanism allows for secure and tamper-free transmission of data between the Ground Control Station (GCS) and a swarm of UAVs. The performance efficiency of the blockchain model is evaluated based on network latency which is the total execution time across the blockchain network.

【Abstract】Considering that the centralized optimization control strategy is difficult to adapt to the access of large-scale electric vehicles, a distributed collaborative control strategy based on consensus algorithm is proposed in this paper to control the operation of multiple charging stations. In order to reduce the computational cost, a charging station aggregation model is established to reduce the optimization variables of large-scale electric vehicle access. According to the dispatching instructions issued by the distribution network, this method takes the economic operation of charging stations as the goal, satisfies the global and local constraints, and realizes the power allocation among charging stations. The case analysis proves the accuracy, effectiveness and robustness of the method, and the adaptability to large-scale electric vehicle access.(c) 2022 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier Ltd. 【Abstract】This study analyzes the effect of stablecoin adoption on key macroeconomic factors in Montenegro. The main explanation for the adoption of stablecoins is their one-to-one peg to various currencies and commodities. Previous studies have relied on the relationships among cryptocurrencies and thus could not disentangle the country-level macroeconomic effects of stablecoins from the effects of other cryptocurrencies. Using data from January 2006 to December 2019, we decompose the correlation between cryptocurrencies and their effects on the economy due to (a) shocks to stablecoins and (b) shocks to Bitcoin. Contrary to assumptions, stablecoins do not maintain their peg in "crash times" but do promote economic growth. Bitcoin's volatility deanchors investor expectations, disrupts markets, and destabilizes key macroeconomic factors. Our novel findings indicate that stablecoin adoption should not be based only on a one-to-one assumption and reveal the mechanism of key gaps by a prudential authority.

【Abstract】Industrialization and the rapid increase in the world population have led to the generation of a large amount of plastic waste. Efficient recycling of such waste and fairly rewarding the general public for their services and efforts are two challenging problems. A large portion of today's systems and technologies that are leveraged for managing plastic waste disposal processes and rewarding people for their services fall short of providing transparency, traceability, reliability, security, and trust features. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based solution for managing and tracking recyclable plastic waste using the Ethereum blockchain, along with decentralized storage technology to handle massive volumes of data. Our proposed solution also introduces a reward scheme for people to honor their efforts. Also, our proposed solution establishes trust and accountability among stakeholders who typically participate in the waste management system and also ensures fair reward practices. We present the system architecture along with full implementation and testing details. For better usability, we deploy a decentralized application (DApp) on top of the smart contracts. We evaluate the proposed solution's functionality and performance using security and cost analyses and compare it with the existing solutions. Our results demonstrate that adopting a blockchain-based approach reduces inefficiencies and is an economical and commercially viable solution. We also make the smart contracts' code publicly available on GitHub.

【Abstract】A public blockchain network ensures security, performance, and integrity through its consensus algorithm. However, most public blockchain consensus algorithms require intensive resources such as; energy, CPU, stake, and memory. Further, the incentive mechanisms of most permissionless consensus algorithms are biased towards the miners having the most resources. This paper proposes a novel, resource-efficient, and fair rewarding consensus algorithm called Proof of Fit (PoF). The PoF consensus algorithm replaces the resource-intensive computation in Proof of Work (PoW) with massage-based resource-efficient computation called fitting-competition. We estimated the average computation time by developing a peer-to-peer messaging and computing network. Then we customized a public blockchain simulation framework to assess the performance parameters of the consensus algorithm. We did several experiments and compared the simulation results of PoF with PoW, Proof of Activity (PoA), Proof of Stake (PoS), and Poof of Capacity (PoC). The simulation result shows that the PoF consensus algorithm improves throughput by 1257%, 69%, 35%, and 18%, respectively; besides, it improves security, resource efficiency, and incentive distribution.

【Abstract】Promotional schemes, such as promotional points and coupons, are highly effective marketing tools. Through these schemes, merchants can obtain customer loyalty or attract new customers, and customers can obtain benefits when purchasing goods or services. Therefore, the use of promotional schemes is considered to be a win-win strategy. Promotional points are becoming an increasingly popular way of providing customers with discounts or gifts to incentivise the purchase of some products. However, some security issues should be addressed: forgery, double-spending, privacy, etc. Blockchain is gaining popularity in academic research and business applications, as it has the potential to change business models in numerous sectors of the economy. The characteristics of blockchain (security, immutability, efficiency, etc.) can help to provide secure solutions for blockchain-based applications in the marketing field. In this paper, we propose a multimerchant, blockchain-based promotional point scheme that allows points to be transferred between customers and preserves customers' privacy.

【Abstract】Uncertainties of intermittent renewables and complexities of load demands bring challenges to the optimal operation of the microgrid. This paper proposes a fully distributed method based on the consensus algorithm for solving the economic dispatch problem (EDP) of DC microgrids. The proposed distributed method is performed using a multiagent system. It only needs information from neighboring agents and does not need a central controller. A two-level control structure is adopted to realize the economic dispatch and voltage regulation simultaneously. The upper level obtains the optimal power reference of dispatchable agents and maintains the power balance of the system. The lower level performs an improved droop control to track the power reference and regulate the average bus voltage for the microgrid. The proposed method's properties and convergence are analyzed using eigenvalue perturbation theory to obtain a faster convergence speed. By designing the adjacency matrix appropriately, the proposed method can ensure the system stable when the communication topology changes. Finally, several simulations are designed to verify the effectiveness of this novel control method.

【Abstract】Blockchain technologies can enable secure computing environments among mistrusting parties. Permissioned blockchains are particularly enlightened by companies, enterprises, and government agencies due to their efficiency, customizability, and governance-friendly features. Obviously, seamlessly fusing blockchain and cloud computing can significantly benefit permissioned blockchains; nevertheless, most blockchains implemented on clouds are originally designed for loosely-coupled networks where nodes communicate asynchronously, failing to take advantages of the closely-coupled nature of cloud servers. In this paper, we propose an innovative cloud-oriented blockchain - CloudChain, which is a modularized three-layer system composed of the network layer, consensus layer, and blockchain layer. CloudChain is based on a shared-memory model where nodes communicate synchronously by direct memory accesses. We realize the shared-memory model with the Remote Direct Memory Access technology, based on which we propose a shared-memory consensus algorithm to ensure presistence and liveness, the two crucial blockchain security properties countering Byzantine nodes. We also implement a CloudChain prototype based on a RoCEv2-based testbed to experimentally validate our design, and the results verify the feasibility and efficiency of CloudChain.

【Abstract】In this paper, we studied the effects of using Microsoft HoloLens 2 in a Metaverse-based collaborative mixed reality environment on the driver's social presence while using an autonomous driving system. In (semi-) autonomous vehicles the driver is the system's monitor, and the driving process becomes a secondary task. Our approach is motivated by the advent of Microsoft Mesh XR technology that enables immersion in multi-person, shared mixed reality environments. We conducted a user study comparing the effects on social presence in two scenarios: baseline and mixed reality collaboration. During the baseline condition, participants communicated and interacted with another person using Skype/Meet which was installed on a mobile tablet. In the second scenario the participants used the Microsoft Mesh application installed on HoloLens 2 to collaborate in a mixed reality environment where each user is represented by an augmented 3D avatar. During the experiment, the participant had to perform a social interaction tell-a-lie task and a remote collaborative tic-tac-toe game, while also monitoring the vehicle's behavior. The social presence was measured using the Harms and Biocca questionnaire, one of the most widely used tools for evaluating the user's experience. We found that there are significant statistical differences for Co-presence, Perceived Emotional Interdependence, and Perceived Behavioral Interdependence, and participants were able to easily interact with the avatar in the mixed reality scenario. The proposed study procedure could be taken further to assess the driver's performance during handover procedures, especially when the autonomous driving system encounters a critical situation.

【Abstract】Since cloud computing is an essential component of any modern company (usually accounting for a considerable share of information technology (IT) infrastructure investment), consumers rely on cloud services. Data privacy and security are worries when data remains in third-party storage. Existing document version control systems are centralized and at risk from data loss, as seen by higher time utilization and incorrect document update procedures that allow modifications to a document without the awareness of other network operators. Underutilized peer resources might be leveraged to construct storage. According to this argument, an elevated level of data security may be obtained by encrypting the data and dispersing it among numerous nodes. In this study, we attempted to review the security of cloud systems when using the blockchain Ethereum, and cloud computing was briefly discussed with its advantages and disadvantages. The idea of a decentralized cloud was briefly demonstrated with blockchain technology. Furthermore, previous papers were reviewed and presented in tabular form. This dictated that there are still research gaps in the field of blockchain-based cloud computing systems. This study proposed a model for secured data storage over a decentralized cloud by blockchain Ethereum.

【Abstract】In the context of the COVID-19's outbreak and its implications for the financial sector, this study analyses the aspect of hedging and safe-haven under the pandemic. Drawing on the daily data from 02 August 2019 to 17 April 2020, our key findings suggest that the contagious effects in financial assets' returns significantly increased under COVID-19, indicating exacerbated market risk. The connectedness spiked in the middle of March, consistent with lockdown timings in major economies. The effect became severe with the WHO's declaration of a pandemic, confirming negative news effects. The return connectedness suggests that COVID-19 has been a catalyst of contagious effects on the financial markets. The crude oil and the government bonds are however not as much affected by the spillovers as their endogenous innovation. In terms of spillovers, we do find the safe-haven function of Gold and Bitcoin. Comparatively, the safe-haven effectiveness of Bitcoin is unstable over the pandemic. Whereas, GOLD is the most promising hedge and safe-haven asset, as it remains robust during the current crisis of COVID-19 and thus exhibits superiority over Bitcoin and Tether. Our findings are useful for investors, portfolio managers and policymakers interested in spillovers and safe havens during the current pandemic.

【Abstract】The traditional centralized logistics resources allocation method can no longer adapt to the new business model of decentralized e-commerce, requiring transaction security for all parties involved in the logistics process. Utilizing blockchain and smart contract technologies to build logistics resources allocation network foundation and edge computing technology to assist the resource-constrained transport nodes in implementing complex computation, this paper proposes a distributed logistics resources allocation chain (DLRAChain) concept and designs a DLRAChain network that supports independent decision-making, fair bidding, and secure al-location of interests for all resources allocation participants. The corresponding system models are constructed according to the different roles of DLRAChain participants. Furthermore, the logistics resources requester-provider negotiation process is formulated as a two-stage Stackelberg game. To resolve the optimization problem of the game, the iterative game algorithm (IGA) and distributed logistics resources allocation algorithm (DLRAA) are proposed. Finally, the utility of warehouse and transport nodes and reward of mobile edge computing (MEC) nodes are analyzed with experimental simulation results. The results demonstrate that the proposed models adequately address the DLRA problem, and that the proposed game and corresponding algorithms efficiently achieve the optimal strategy, saving the response time of resources allocation participants.

Enhanced distributed secondary control method for DC microgrids against heterogeneous communication time delays

【Abstract】Accurate power sharing in a DC microgrid with a conventional distributed control scheme is impossible to achieve due to the heterogeneity of communication time delays. To address this problem, an anti-heterogeneous time delay estimator is proposed on the basis of scattering transformation and a PI consensus algorithm, and proper power allocation is achieved along with voltage compensation in a distributed fashion. In the proposed estimator, transmitted/received signals are modified via scattering transformation, and average consensus is estimated by the PI consensus algorithm. Consequently, proportional power sharing and voltage compensation are achieved concomitantly despite heterogeneous temporal delays, mismatched line resistances, and load variation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated through experiments.

【Abstract】Enterprises have paid attention to consortium blockchains like Hyperledger Fabric, which is one of the most promising platforms, for efficient decentralized transactions without depending on any particu-lar organization. A consortium blockchain-based system will be typically built across multiple organizations. In such blockchain-based systems, sys-tem operations across multiple organizations in a decentralized manner are essential to maintain the value of introducing consortium blockchains. De-centralized system operations have recently been becoming realistic with the evolution of consortium blockchains. For instance, the release of Hyper -ledger Fabric v2.x, in which individual operational tasks for a blockchain network, such as command execution of configuration change of channels (Fabric's sub-networks) and upgrade of chaincodes (Fabric's smart con-tracts), can be partially executed in a decentralized manner. However, the operations workflows also include the preceding procedure of pre-sharing, coordinating, and pre-agreeing the operational information (e.g., configu-ration parameters) among organizations, after which operation executions can be conducted, and this preceding procedure relies on costly manual tasks. To realize efficient decentralized operations workflows for consor-tium blockchain-based systems in general, we propose a decentralized inter -organizational operations method that we call Operations Smart Contract (OpsSC), which defines an operations workflow as a smart contract. Further-more, we design and implement OpsSC for blockchain network operations with Hyperledger Fabric v2.x. This paper presents OpsSC for operating channels and chaincodes, which are essential for managing the blockchain networks, through clarifying detailed workflows of those operations. A cost evaluation based on an estimation model shows that the total operational cost for executing a typical operational scenario to add an organization to a blockchain network having ten organizations could be reduced by 54 percent compared with a conventional script-based method. The implementation of OpsSC has been open-sourced and registered as one of Hyperledger Labs projects, which hosts experimental projects approved by Hyperledger.
