【Abstract】Play-to-earn (P2E) is a new form of monetised gaming based on blockchain and crypto-currency technology. Such games offer opportunities to combine gaming with speculative investment through the purchase of tradable in-game currencies and assets (non-fungible tokens). In this paper, we investigate the profile of people most likely to be attracted to this emerging form of gaming. A sample of 560 participants aged between 18-65 (M = 28.3, SD = 8.3) were recruited via Prolific to complete an online survey that included measures of gaming (Petry's Internet Gaming Disorder Scale) and gaming risk (Problem Gambling Severity Index), measures of gaming motivation and impulsivity. Other existing engagement in gaming monetization as well as digital asset ownership was also assessed. P2E interest was associated with higher gambling risk scores, but not with internet gaming disorder. P2E gamers also scored higher on extrinsic motivation and monetised gaming was generally associated with higher impulsivity. The results suggest that P2E may be attractive to those with a pre-existing interest in financially risky activities. Policy implications include the increasing need to monitor the growth of digital asset technology and the increasing convergence of gambling, financial speculation and gaming and the potential for increasing financial harm in gaming populations.

【Abstract】Forecasting cryptocurrency behaviour is an increasingly important issue for investors. However, proposed analytical approaches typically suffer from a lack of explanatory power. In response, we propose for cryptocurrency pricing an explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) framework, including a new feature selection method integrated with a game-theory-based SHapley Additive exPlanations approach and an explainable forecasting framework. This new approach, extendable to other uses, improves both forecasting and model generalizability and interpretability. We demonstrate that XAI modeling is capable of predicting cryptocurrency prices during the recent cryptocurrency downturn identified as associated in part with the Russian-Ukraine war. Modeling reveals the critical inflection points of the daily financial and macroeconomic determinants of the transitions between low and high daily prices. We contribute to financial operating systems research and practice by introducing XAI techniques to enhance the transparency and interpretability of machine learning applications and to support various decision-making processes.

【Abstract】We evaluate the ability of futures market participants' trading behavior decisions to predict cryp-tocurrency returns. We establish that cryptocurrency returns are driven and predicted by the trading behavior of speculative retail traders. We document that the net-short trading behavior of speculative retail traders is an economically strong and statistically significant determinant of cryptocurrency returns. Further, our findings indicate that changes in the net-short trading behavior remained strong even after controlling for other known predictors such as investor attention, crypto market uncertainty, sentiment, and prior returns.& COPY; 2023 Elsevier B.V. 【Abstract】Achieving efficient and secure sharing of data in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is of great significance for the development of smart transportation. Although blockchain technology has great potential to promote data sharing and privacy protection in the context of IoV, the problem of securing data sharing should be payed more attentions. This paper proposes an IoV data sharing scheme based on the hybrid architecture of blockchain and cloud-edge computing. Firstly, to improve protocol's efficiency, a dual-chain structure empowered by alliance chain is introduced as the model architecture. Secondly, for the space problem characterized by data storage and security, we adopt distributed storage with the help of edge devices. Finally, to both ensure the efficiency of consensus protocol and protect the privacy of vehicles and owners simultaneously, we improve DPoS consensus algorithm to realize the efficient operation of the IoV data sharing model, which is closer to the actual needs of IoV. The comparison with other data sharing models highlights the advantages of this model, in terms of data storage and sharing security. It can be seen that the improved DPoS has high consensus efficiency and security in IoV.

【Abstract】Decentralized cryptocurrency systems, known as blockchains, have shown promise as an infrastructure for mutually distrustful parties to securely agree on transactions. Nevertheless, blockchain systems are constrained by the CAP Trilemma. Due to performance degradation, it is impossible to address this issue by improving simply the consensus layer or the network layer. To alleviate the CAP constraint in consortium blockchains, we propose a topological construction method to optimize the physical layer based on multi-dimensional hypercubes with excellent partition tolerance in probability. The basic topology has the advantage of solving the mismatch problem between the overlay network and the underlying network. It is further extended to hierarchical recursive topologies with more intermediate links or short links to balance the reliability requirement with the cost of building the physical network. We prove that the proposed hypercube topology has better partition tolerance than the regular rooted tree and ring lattice topologies, and effectively fits the upper-layer protocols at the consensus and network layers. As a result, combined with suitable transmission and consensus protocols that satisfy strong consistency and availability, the proposed topology-constructed blockchain can reach the CAP guarantee bound.

【Abstract】Arbitrage opportunities in markets for cryptocurrencies are well-documented. In this paper, we confirm that they exist; however, their magnitude decreased greatly from April 2018 onward. Analyzing various trading strategies, we show that it is barely possible to exploit existing price differences since then. We discuss and test several mechanisms that may be responsible for the increased market efficiency and find that informed trading is correlated with a reduction in arbitrage opportunities.

【Abstract】Cloud storage security has received widespread attention from industry and academia. When cloud data is damaged and tampered by various types of security attacks, it is one of the most common methods to track accidents through log analysis. In order to support credible forensic analysis of user operation behavior logs in a shared cloud environment allowing multiple users handling data, this paper presents a secure and efficient public auditing scheme for user operation behavior logs. Specifically, a blockchain-based logging strategy was designed to support selective verification of log-data integrity and resist collusion attacks between malicious users and the cloud service provider. Based on the multi-user logging strategy, a public auditing approach was further presented to verify the integrity of log data in the cloud remotely without leaking any log content. We formally prove the security of the presented scheme and evaluate its performance by theoretical analysis and comprehensive experiments. The results indicate that our scheme can achieve secure and effective auditing for logs in the shared cloud storage.

【Abstract】This study investigates the relationship between Wikipedia searches and the next day's realised skewness for the top four cryptocurrencies between 2020 and 2022, using a time-varying framework. Daily realised skewness was calculated using one-minute data, and Wikipedia queries were used as a proxy for investor attention. The study reports a positive time-varying relationship between today's Wikipedia attention and the next day's realised skewness, with increases in Wikipedia attention on a given day associated with higher realised skewness on the following day. However, there was no significant contemporaneous relationship between Wikipedia attention and realised skewness. The study also found that the relationship between Wikipedia attention and realised skewness becomes more stable over time. The findings suggest that Wikipedia attention may be a useful predictor of realised skewness for cryptocurrencies, which could have implications for investors and market participants.

【Abstract】Web 3.0 is a next-generation web architecture that envisions a more decentralised, secure and intelligent Internet. Its implications are vast and could potentially impact various research areas, such as e-commerce, social networking, finance, healthcare and education. It can be seen as a confluence of various technological advancements, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, semantic web and decentralised web technologies, which continue to attract substantial research interest in several dimensions and categories throughout the last few decades. A detailed scientometric analysis was undertaken to obtain concise understanding on development and publication trends of this multi-dimensional field. Corpus of 1154 articles, extracted from Web of Science from 2002 to 2022, were used to identify networks of co-authorship, keywords, subject categories, institutions and countries engaged in publishing on Web 3.0 along with co-citation and cluster analysis. Networks and interactive visualisations created using CiteSpace revealed new research areas where Web 3.0 may be beneficial and potential directions of development for Web 3.0 discipline. We identify Journalism 3.0, Personal Data Stores (PDS), Decentralised File Storages (DFS) and Metaverse as emerging domains Web 3.0 research, seeking overwhelming research attention globally.

【Abstract】Blockchain is a modern-age technology which records digital transactions in a consistent, safe, and verifiable form to solve the problems from different sectors. In the supply chain, this technology is applied to improve traceability, ownership, and trust. Moreover, it can solve the issue pertaining to counterfeits in the supply chain. However, blockchain-based supply chains have certain disadvantages, such as privacy of the information shared between the members of the supply chain. In this paper, a new mechanism has been proposed to ensure the privacy of such information by taking traceability and ownership into account. The novelty of the proposed system is its ability to achieve privacy with the inclusion of traceability and ownership. To implement privacy, we employed a combination of symmetric and asymmetric key encryption. With the proposed system, owner of the product can trace said product and the one who owns the product can transfer the ownership. The proposed system restricts the entry of counterfeit products in the supply chain. The Hyperledger Sawtooth blockchain has been used for the experimental purpose. The subsequent analysis show that the proposed system can provide privacy without disturbing factors concerning traceability and ownership. The results show that the inclusion of privacy does not impact performance significantly.

【Abstract】In vehicular energy networks (VENs) operating in smart health care systems (SHaCarS), reputation of vehicles, i.e., ambulances, plays an important role as all functions depend upon it including message sharing, energy trading, etc. Keeping this in view, this paper presents a reputation management scheme. To ensure that the proposed scheme is secure and transparent, Blockchain (BC) technology is used. In the proposed model, the registration of ambulances is performed through a certificate authority (CA). Later, a pseudo mechanism is designed using Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm, which ensures conditional anonymity and traceability. The ambulances are provided with the pseudo identities, which are mapped with the real identities to prevent disputes. Besides, the proposed scheme uses a Shamir secret sharing (SSS) algorithm to enable distributed revocation in BC based VENs operating in SHaCarS. In addition, the ambulances' reputation information is stored in interplanetary file system (IPFS) in an efficient manner. The hashes are generated by IPFS upon data storage, which are then stored in BC. The performance evaluation of the proposed system is done via extensive simulations. The results show 18-20% reduction in computational overhead and 35-40% reduction in storage overhead. The proposed system's robustness is tested by inducing the 51% attack and the replay attack. In addition, the security analysis of the smart contract is performed using Oyente. The results show that the system proposed for reputation management in the underlying work is robust and computationally efficient.

【Abstract】These days, most people are not satisfied with the final result of the voting system. This is because the current system for voting is centralized and fully controlled by the election commission. So, there is a chance that the central body can be compromised or hacked and the final result can be tampered. In this direction, a decentralized, Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) based methodology for voting system is devised and presented in this paper. The efficient smart contracts and consensusmechanism are applied in the proposed system to enhance the security. Blockchain is totally transparent, secured and immutable technique because it uses concept like encryption, decryption, hash function, consensus and Merkle tree etc. which make Blockchain Technology an appropriate platform for storing and sharing the data in a secured and anonymous manner. IoT makes use of biometric sensors using which people can cast their votes in not only physical mode but also in digital mode. As a response, a message is received to the owner for casting his vote to ensure the authentication. In this way, we can make the present voting system more secure and trust-worthy using the properties of both Blockchain and IoT, and therefore, we can give more value to the election process in the democratic countries. The proposed method ensures security as well as reduces the computational time as compared to the existing approaches.
