【Abstract】Decentralised finance (DeFi) has emerged as a blockchain-enabled innovation in supply chains that makes use of supporting infrastructure to transform financial services by reducing or removing the need for intermediaries. While an increasing number of pilot projects have been exploring DeFi applications for use by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in various finance scenarios, there is not yet a real-world adoption of DeFi beyond these projects to unlock their potential for progressing the digitisation of supply chain finance (SCF). This paper reports on a university-industry collaborative study to leverage the use of blockchain-based DeFi technology in two ways: (i) to benefit SMEs by reducing their cost of finance and increasing ease of access to funding, and; (ii) to address the prevalent asymmetric information risks and costs in a supply chain finance context. The research informed the design and development of a DeFi architecture for asset tracking in agricultural supply chains implemented and evaluated in a real-world pilot adoption with a producer in the Australian livestock industry. The use case shows that there are numerous risks pertaining to the adoption of DeFi for SCF. In response, the paper suggests new ways for supply chain SMEs to secure benefits from their investment in DeFi based on the key findings derived from evaluating our use cases.

【Abstract】This paper investigates the lead-lag relationship across the returns of four cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether and TrueUSD. It identifies the important role of the environment in forecasting the cryptocurrency returns. The study compares the predictive ability of environmental variables such as temperature anomalies and CO2 emissions with that of commodities i.e. Gold and WTI returns. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first attempt to investigate the leading role of the environment in predicting cryptocurrency returns. Most studies in the literature examine the environmental cost of Bitcoin, but none has considered the possible causal effect of the environment on Bitcoin returns. Our results show evidence of limited predictive power of lagged commodity returns, while lagged CO2 emissions significantly predict the returns of volatile cryptocurrencies, i.e. Bitcoin and Ethereum. On the other hand, environmental variables do not show any predictive power in the returns of stable coins (Tether and TrueUSD). Our findings highlight the increased awareness regarding the degradation of the environment and rapid climate change. Our results have important policy implications.

【Abstract】Stablecoins are a relatively recent phenomenon in the cryptocurrency market, gaining prominence particularly since 2018. These digital currencies are usually pegged to nonvolatile underlying assets, offering a solution to the problem of the high price volatility of nonstable cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Therefore, stablecoins seem attractive to participants in the cryptocurrency market, especially in times of turmoil. This paper aims to measure the spillover effect of shocks in volatile cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and the Cryptocurrencies Index) on the activity of investors in the stablecoin market (Tether, USD Coin, Binance USD, DAI, Paxos, Huobi USD, and Gemini USD). Using the spectral representation of variance decomposition, the paper measures the strength of the spillover effect and investigates whether the cryptocurrency market processes information rapidly or slowly. The results suggest that shocks in the volatile cryptocurrency market moderately drive the popularity of stablecoins. The spillover effects on stablecoin popularity are short-lived, as they are observed mostly within up to 3 days of the shock. The findings indicate that investors use stablecoins as safe haven assets after bad news in the volatile cryptocurrency market; however, they react more strongly to news related to individual cryptocurrencies and not so intensively to the general sentiment in the cryptocurrency market. Investors with larger capital are more resistant to shocks.

【Abstract】The rise of blockchain technology has brought innovations in various business domains and spawned a new form of organization-the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Steemit is recognized as one of the earliest blockchain-based online communities, and a typical example of DAO. By endowing community members with new roles, the decentralization of blockchain-based communities brings changes to the design of user incentive mechanisms. However, few studies have paid attention to the user incentive mechanism when users play the dual roles of social participant and community owner. On the basis of social capital theory and psychological ownership theory, this study explores Steemit's incentive mechanism by evaluating the impact of these dual roles on user active participation behavior. The study adopts a two-way fixed effect negative binomial regression to test the research model. The results show that users' social capital, share capital, social feedback, and economic feedback positively affect their active participation behavior. At the same time, social feedback and economic feedback play moderating roles on the effects of the dual capitals. Overall, this research provides both theoretical insights and practical implications for understanding, designing, and governing blockchain-based online communities.

【Abstract】This paper provides (i) a review of the existing literature on the metaverse and (ii) an empirical assessment of the current state of the Web3 meta-economy, with the focus on economic governance and metaverse commerce. We have analysed the entire Web3 metaverse niche, i.e. both the 196 available metaverse fungible tokens and all the non-fungible token (NFT) transactions belonging to the metaverse marketplace. Our results showed that economic governance is based on metaverse tokens that cannot be defined as reliable virtual currencies due to their explosive behaviour, negative performance, and higher volatility compared to traditional alternatives. Paradoxically, fiat currencies and stablecoins could be more appropriate candidates for the payment infrastructure. Moreover, we also observed that NFT prices are affected by the cryptocurrency market, which highlights the risk of metaverse commerce. For future research, developers and scholars must assess the different alternatives and infrastructures that can make the metaverse a persistent reality with a proper virtual economy. However, at present, it seems that the hype has run far ahead of reality.

【Abstract】The 6th generation (6G) network targets the Internet of Everything (IoE) implementation, and Distributed Deep Learning (DDL) can promote this progress with innovative performance in generating intelligence. Meanwhile, the 6G networks support ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (uRLLC) and thus can further elevate the DDL performance to empower the IoE development. However, DDL designs mostly focus on individual areas and yield separate intelligence which is insufficient for the IoE; besides, DDL platforms are usually managed in the centralized fashion, which is vulnerable for data preservation and task execution; the complexity of 6G networks involving heterogeneous devices and relations aggravates issues about reliability and efficiency of DDL. To this end, we propose a novel BC-escorted 6G-based DDL design for trustworthy model training. In this system, the 6G network design is utilized for system-wide uRLLC; non-homogeneous edge devices are grouped up with weighted consideration for DDL to train CNN models; macro base stations (MBSs) and small base stations (SBSs) jointly provide two-tiers parameter aggregation to elevate the knowledge level; a dual -driven BC consensus is designed to verify tasks and models; users anyplace can retrieve models via the BC nodes for object detection. The proposed design is evaluated in comparison with Cloud-based and P2P-based DDLs, and the results demonstrate better performance on accuracy and latency achieved in the proposed system.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. 【Abstract】Cryptocurrencies acquire user confidence by making the whole creation and transaction history transparent to the public. In exchange, the transaction history accurately captures the complete range of user activities related to cryptocurrencies. It is thought to be one of the safest and simplest payment methods that may be employed in the future. The trend of banks and other financial institutions investing in cryptocurrencies has increased rapidly in recent years. Therefore, it is necessary to synthesize the findings of previous studies on cryptocurrencies. In this paper, the use of data mining methods in Bitcoin transactions is analyzed and summarized. Cryptocurrencies, similar to the well-known Bitcoin, were targeted to ensure transaction security and privacy and overcome the drawbacks of traditional banking systems as well as other centralized systems. In addition, a comprehensive analysis of the literature on the challenges and applications of electronic currencies is conducted. The evolution of digital currency from electronic cash to cryptocurrencies is summarized and the methods used to increase user privacy are highlighted. The security threats in existing cryptocurrency systems (that compromise the privacy of Bitcoin users) are also highlighted. Finally, several research gaps and trends are identified that need to be further explored.

【Abstract】The metaverse provides us with an attractive virtual space in which the value of the virtual property has been increasingly recognized. However, the lack of effective cross-metaverse trading tools and the reputation guarantee makes it difficult to trade items among different metaverses. To this end, a decentralized reputation system for virtual items trading forum named DVIT is devised. To the best of our knowledge, DVIT is the first decentralized cross-metaverse item trading prototype inspired by the online-game trading system. We designed the corresponding transaction function and realized the autonomous governance of the community by introducing the reputation mechanism. An improved election mechanism is proposed to improve efficiency based on Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS). Through token rewards associated with activity levels, users' motivation can be stimulated. The experiments indicate that our proposed scheme could dynamically measure the trustworthiness degree of the users through the dynamic reputation value and thereby exclude malicious users from the blockchain within 20 epochs.

【Abstract】Previous research has shown volatility jumps and co-jumping behaviours in cryptocurrency markets. Motivated by these findings, we employ the herding effect and financial contagion channel to outline a theoretical framework of volatility-state-dependent correlations in cryptocurrency markets. We show that digital currency markets are more strongly correlated when experiencing an identical volatility regime, which echoes co-jumping behaviours addressed by the literature. Moreover, the strong correlation that occurs when the paired cryptocurrencies simultaneously experience a high volatility regime results in the least effectiveness of diversification in terms of a minimum portfolio risk reduction. Last but not least, the proposed state-dependent approach in this study proves effective at the task of risk forecasting and risk reduction for cryptocurrency portfolios, beyond the bivariate GARCH-based models, which are a pure and simple time-dependent approach.

【Abstract】Ethereum is one of the popular Blockchain platform. The key component in the Ethereum Blockchain is the smart contract. Smart contracts (SC) are like normal computer programs which are written mostly in solidity high-level object-oriented programming language. Smart contracts allow completing transactions directly between two parties in the network without any middle man or mediator. Modification of the smart contracts are not possible once deployed into the Blockchain. Thus smart contract has to be vulnerable free before deploying into the Blockchain. In this paper, Bayesian Network Model was designed and constructed based on Bayesian learning concept to detect smart contract security vulnerabilities which are Reentrancy, Tx.origin and DOS. The results showed that the proposed BNMC (Bayesian Network Model Construction) design is able to detect the severity of each vulnerability and also suggest the reasons for the vulnerability. The accuracy of the proposed BNMC results are improved (accuracy 8% increased for both Reentracy and Tx.origin, 6% increased for DOS), compared with traditional method LSTM. This proposed BNMS design and implementation is the first attempt to detect smart contract vulnerabilities using Bayesian Networks.
