【Abstract】The metaverse integrates physical and virtual realities, enabling humans and their avatars to interact in an environment supported by technologies such as high-speed internet, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed and extended reality, blockchain, digital twins and artificial intelligence (AI), all enriched by effectively unlimited data. The metaverse recently emerged as social media and entertainment platforms, but extension to healthcare could have a profound impact on clinical practice and human health. As a group of academic, industrial, clinical and regulatory researchers, we identify unique opportunities for metaverse approaches in the healthcare domain. A metaverse of 'medical technology and AI' (MeTAI) can facilitate the development, prototyping, evaluation, regulation, translation and refinement of AI-based medical practice, especially medical imaging-guided diagnosis and therapy. Here, we present metaverse use cases, including virtual comparative scanning, raw data sharing, augmented regulatory science and metaversed medical intervention. We discuss relevant issues on the ecosystem of the MeTAI metaverse including privacy, security and disparity. We also identify specific action items for coordinated efforts to build the MeTAI metaverse for improved healthcare quality, accessibility, cost-effectiveness and patient satisfaction. The metaverse is gaining prominence in industry, academia and social media. Wang and colleagues envision a medical technology and AI ecosystem, and present this perspective on the future of healthcare in the metaverse.

【Abstract】Ongoing smart contract attack events have seriously impeded the practical application of blockchain. Although lots of researches have been conducted, they mostly focus on off-chain vulnerability detection. However, smart contracts cannot be modified once they have been deployed on-chain, thus existing techniques cannot protect those deployed contracts from being attacked. To mitigate this problem, we propose a general smart contract repairer named Aroc, which can automatically patch vulnerable deployed contracts without changing the contract codes. The core insight of Aroc is to generate patch contracts to abort malicious transactions in advance. Taking the three most serious bug types (i.e., reentrancy, arithmetic bugs, and unchecked low-level checks) as examples, we present how Aroc automatically repairs them on-chain. We conduct abundant evaluations on four kinds of datasets to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Aroc. In particular, Aroc can repair 95.95% of the vulnerable contracts with an average correctness ratio of 93.32%. Meanwhile, Aroc introduces acceptable additional overheads to smart contract users and blockchain miners. When compared with the state-of-the-art techniques, Aroc introduces either fewer execution overheads or contract codes.

【Abstract】Smart contracts are a promising means of formalizing and reliably enforcing agreements between entities using distributed ledger technology (DLT). Research has revealed that a significant number of smart contracts are subject to programming flaws, making them vulnerable to attacks and leading to detrimental effects, such as asset loss. Researchers and developers call for a thorough analysis of challenges to identify their causes and propose solutions. To respond to these calls, we conducted two literature reviews and diverse expert interviews and synthesized scattered knowledge on challenges and solutions. We identified 29 challenges (e.g., code visibility, code updateability, and encapsulation) and 60 solutions (e.g., gas limit specification, off-ledger computations, and shadowing). Moreover, we developed 20 software design patterns (SDPs) in collaboration with smart contract developers. The SDPs help developers adjust their programming habits and thus support them in their daily development practices. Our results provide actionable knowledge for smart contract developers to overcome the identified challenges and offer support for comparing smart contract integration concepts across three fundamentally different DLT protocols (i.e., Ethereum, EOSIO, and Hyperledger Fabric). Moreover, we support developers in becoming aware of peculiarities in smart contract development and the resulting benefits and drawbacks.

【Abstract】PurposeThe blockchain technology is based on distributed ledger. Many stakeholders, such as developers, entrepreneurs and technology lovers, consider the blockchain as an economic and business re-creation that is faced with numerous challenges in its application. Blockchain technology is the backbone of many digital currencies, i.e. Bitcoin and Ethereum. Although presently digital currencies are recognized as payment and exchange instruments in many countries, the economic sanctions imposed on some countries have restricted the possibility of the trading. So, this study seeks to evaluate the adoption of blockchain for digital currency use in Iran in the shadow of economic sanctions.Design/methodology/approachThe developed value-based technology adoption model and smart PLS software have been used in this research. The statistical population of the study was people active in the Iranian stock market; the purpose for this selection was their familiarity with financial and digital currency issues.FindingsThe results show that the terms of sanctions, usage and facilitating conditions are directly related to users' perceived value of digital currency and its use; As a result, in a sanctioned country like Iran, the use of digital currencies is being accepted as a way of rolling out economic sanctions and thus making commercial payments.Originality/valueAs well as the fact that evaluating the adoption of the blockchain technology in a sanctioned country like Iran is considered as the originality aspect of the research, applying an extended model in the technology adoption is also the research innovation.

【Abstract】The term metaverse appeared for the first time in a novel published in 1992. Since the early 2000s, researchers have started to use this term to refer to digital technologies for learners to interact with other users with avatars. The term came to prominence in around 2020 due to the rebranding of Facebook. However, there was no consensus on what kind of technologies should belong to the metaverse and how to conceptualise the term. As such, this paper presents an exploratory review for conceptualising the metaverse based on 19 articles from the Web of Science database. This review focuses on the metaverse trend, how researchers in the past and present conceptualizing the term, and key technologies identified in the metaverse world. The findings identify the major types of technologies used in the inctaverse studies and offers a sound theoretical foundation in terms of cognitive, social and teacher presence to understand what future potential of these technologies could bring to online learning. Five major types of technologies are identified which could map to four key elements of the metaverse (i.e., immersion, advanced computing, socialisation, decentralisation). At the end, a model is proposed to connect the key elements of the metavcrsc and its three presences in the community of inquiry that enhance students' learning outcomes in the metaverse learning environment. Implications for practice or policy: Educators and researchers could rethink what types of technologies belong to the metaverse and how it has the potential to influence the education sector. Instructional designers could create meaningful learning experiences through the four key elements of the metaverse - immersion, advanced computing, socialisation and decentralisation. Policy-makers and educators could refer to the model of metaverse learning environment to guide their future policy and practices.

【Abstract】Recently, the rapid flourish of blockchain technology in the financial field has attracted many cybercriminals' attention to launching blockchain-based attacks such as ponzi schemes, scam wallets, and phishing scams. Currently, Ethereum is the most prominent blockchain-based platform and the first that supports smart contracts. However, the number of phishing scam accounts are reportedly more than 50% of all cybercrimes in Ethereum. In contrast, this paper proposes a detection mechanism called Ethereum Phishing Scam Detection (Eth-PSD) that attempts to detect phishing scam-related transactions using a novel machine learning-based approach. Eth-PSD tackles some of the limitations in the existing works, such as the use of imbalanced datasets, complex feature engineering, and lower detection accuracy. We also investigated the aspects of constructing a new updated, balanced dataset that can be used to evaluate Eth-PSD effectively. Our experimental results indicate that Eth-PSD could efficiently detect the phishing scam on Ethereum with a detection accuracy of 98.11%, with a very low False Positive Rate of 0.01. Taken together, Eth-PSD showed a superior advantage compared to the existing works in reducing the dimensionality of the dataset by feature engineering and achieved an overall detection accuracy with an improvement of at least 6% compared to other existing solutions from the related work.

【Abstract】The current legacy system used in processing health insurance claims causes a huge amount of financial loss every year due to fraud claims. It is also highly prone to privacy and security threats due to the use of traditional methods. Health insurance claims for prescription drugs are one such claim that is highly prone to being tampered with. Also, there is a lack of linkage in the prescription data between the medical care provider and the pharmacy, which also leads to miscommunication and the use of false prescriptions. In this paper, we propose processing health insurance claims for drug prescriptions using blockchain technology that manages the processing of prescription drugs in a private, secure, trustworthy, and decentralized manner. The proposed system utilizes a private Ethereum blockchain. The system includes two smart contracts: registration and approval smart contracts, which provide traceability and trustworthiness to the system. The system was integrated with off-chain storage (IPFS) and a fronted decentralized applications (DApps), which improves the accessibility of centralized patient information by authorized parties. To maintain the privacy of the data, a gateway is used to filter the data that can be viewed by the participants. We present the system architecture, sequence diagrams, entity-relationship diagram, and algorithms to demonstrate the working principles of the proposed process for processing health insurance claims for prescription drugs using blockchain. The performance of the proposed solution is evaluated by conducting security analysis and comparing it to the existing solutions. Our smart contract code is publicly available on GitHub.

【Abstract】Featured Application As many new mobile device applications are leveraging blockchain technologies, Web3 wallets were created as a tool to store, manage, stack, and perform cryptocurrency-related transactions. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate what these new nontraditional applications store in their mobile apps and what can be recovered through cyberforensic procedures, which can help the cyberforensics community, tool developers, and law enforcement. Constant advancements in technology have a significant impact on our everyday lives and the ecosystem in which we live. The growing popularity of cryptocurrencies (e.g., Bitcoin and Ethereum), along with Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), which are founded on blockchain technology, has opened the way for these blockchain projects to be integrated into a wide range of other kinds of applications (apps). Today, cryptocurrencies are used as a popular method of payment online; however, their popularity on the dark Web is also increasing. For example, they can be used to buy and perform various illegal activities among criminals due to their anonymity. Web3 cryptocurrency wallets, used to store cryptocurrencies, have not been studied as thoroughly as many other apps from a digital forensic perspective on mobile devices, given the increasing number of these services and apps today for many platforms, including the leading mobile operating systems (i.e., iOS and Android). Therefore, the purpose of this research is to guide investigators to unlock the full potential of popular cryptocurrency Web3 wallets, Trust Wallet and Metamask, to understand what can be recovered, and to look at areas where there are knowledge gaps. We digitally analyzed and forensically examined two mobile wallets that do not require any personal identifiers to register and are widely used for Web3 cryptocurrencies on Android and iOS devices. We review the digital evidence we have collected and discuss the implications of the forensic tools we have used. Finally, we propose a proof of concept extension to the iOS Logs, Events, And Plists Parser (iLEAPP) tool to automatically recover artifacts.

【Abstract】With the popularity of cryptocurrencies and the remarkable development of blockchain technology, decentralized applications emerged as a revolutionary force for the Internet. Meanwhile, decentralized applications have also attracted intense attention from the online gambling community, with more and more decentralized gambling platforms created through the help of smart contracts. Compared with conventional gambling platforms, decentralized gambling has transparent rules and a low participation threshold, attracting a substantial number of gamblers. In order to discover gambling behaviors and identify the contracts and addresses involved in gambling, we propose a tool termed ETHGamDet. The tool is able to automatically detect the smart contracts and addresses involved in gambling by scrutinizing the smart contract code and address transaction records. Interestingly, we present a novel LightGBM model with memory components, which possesses the ability to learn from its own misclassifications. As a side contribution, we construct and release a large-scale gambling dataset at https://github.corn/AwesomeHuang/Bitcoin-Gambling-Dataset to facilitate future research in this field. Empirically, ETHGamDet achieves a F1-score of 0.72 and 0.89 in address classification and contract classification respectively, and offers novel and interesting insights.

【Abstract】The "metaverse" and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), though not necessarily "new" terms or technologies, have risen to mainstream prominence post-2020. This paper, based on survey data obtained from Unity Technologies, examines the metaverse, NFTs, and the future of development within the Unity engine from the perspective of current Unity users. Specifically, the paper examines how users define the metaverse, their goals in metaverse and NFT development, and their future questions and concerns concerning these concepts. This data is then used to place the metaverse and NFTs into broader historical, present, and future contexts. The paper ultimately argues: (1) the metaverse and NFTs follow previous historical trends in communication technology development, (2) development within Unity will continue to be split between game development and non-game development, and (3) arguments of the "newness," "uniqueness," or "future-facing" of the metaverse and NFTs help to obfuscate legitimate concerns about these technologies.

【Abstract】Bitcoin has became one of the most popular investment asset recent years. The volatility of bitcoin price in financial market attracting both investors and researchers to study the price changing manners of bitcoin. Existing works try to understand the bitcoin price change by manually discovering features or factors that are assumed to be reasons of price change. However, the trivial feature engineering consumes human resources without the guarantee that the assumptions or intuitions are correct. In this paper, we propose to reveal the bitcoin price change through understanding the patterns of bitcoin blockchain transactions without feature engineering. We first propose k-order transaction subgraphs to capture the patterns. Then with the help of machine learning models, Multi-Window Prediction Framework is proposed to learn the relation between the patterns and the bitcoin prices. Extensive experimental results verify the effectiveness of transaction patterns to understand the bitcoin price change and the superiority of Multi-Window Prediction Framework to integrate multiple submodels trained separately on multiple history periods.

【Abstract】The blockchain is an emerging technology that has the potential to revolutionize the gaming industry among a wide range of different business fields. So far, only a few studies have been conducted about blockchain gaming. This study introduces a mobile game utilizing blockchain asset tokens and smart contracts. It was developed for research purposes and used to demonstrate blockchain-based games using semi-structured interviews. This study follows the exploratory research paradigm, which aims to map research of little-known areas. This study focuses on how participants perceived blockchain attributes such as trust, transparency, and user-generated content and how this affected engagement and their willingness to play the game again. Based on our evaluation, generating blockchain assets positively impacted player retention. According to the results, providing genuine asset ownership through the blockchain contributes to environmental engagement and self-engagement, as well as player retention. Another positive blockchain feature discovered from the interview data is user-generated content implementation into games.

【Abstract】Personal Medical Records (PMR) manage an individual's medical information in digital form and allow patients to view their medical information and doctors to diagnose diseases. Today's institution-dependent centralized storage, fails to give trustworthy, secure, reliable, and traceable patient controls. This leads to a serious disadvantage in diagnosing and preventing diseases. The proposed blockchain technique forms a secured network between doctors of the same specialization for gathering opinions on a particular diagnosis by sharing the PMR with consent to provide better care to patients. To finalize the disease prediction, members can approve the diagnosis. The smart contract access control allows doctors to view and access the PMR. The scalability issue is resolved by the Huffman code data compression technique, and security of the PMR is achieved by an advanced encryption standard. The proposed techniques ' requirements, latency time, compression ratio and security analysis have been compared with existing techniques.

【Abstract】Virtual currencies have been declared as one of the financial assets that are widely recognized as exchange currencies. The cryptocurrency trades caught the attention of investors as cryptocurrencies can be considered as highly profitable investments. To optimize the profit of the cryptocurrency investments, accurate price prediction is essential. In view of the fact that the price prediction is a time series task, a hybrid deep learning model is proposed to predict the future price of the cryptocurrency. The hybrid model integrates a 1-dimensional convolutional neural network and stacked gated recurrent unit (1DCNN-GRU). Given the cryptocurrency price data over the time, the 1-dimensional convolutional neural network encodes the data into a high-level discriminative representation. Subsequently, the stacked gated recurrent unit captures the long-range dependencies of the representation. The proposed hybrid model was evaluated on three different cryptocurrency datasets, namely Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed 1DCNN-GRU model outperformed the existing methods with the lowest RMSE values of 43.933 on the Bitcoin dataset, 3.511 on the Ethereum dataset, and 0.00128 on the Ripple dataset.

【Abstract】Objective:The Aim of this paper is to analyze the suitability of digital currencies and blockchain innovation for getting monetary exchanges in Asian nations. A new understanding of money has arisen in the wake of the global economic crisis caused by the subprime mortgage crisis. It is entirely digital money, and all transactions take place across a decentralized network. Methods:This algorithm-encrypted currency is dependent on a dispersed network called the Blockchain and is said to be tamper-proof, transparent, and inclusive. Exchanges in blockchain innovation are amassed inside the chain of blocks, rather than customary registers, which paginate and consecutively record processes. Since it is replicated over numerous geographical locations all over the world, it is decentralized. Results:We suggest adding the Proof of Work idea to the SimBlock test system to spread out additional specific measurements roughly the block shape at the blockchain local area, in between one block and some other, to portray the hour of the mining system, and to show the hashing cost made. Conclusion:The objective is to furnish clients with intensive realities so it will perceive the way the PoW-basically based blockchain network works. Our analysis based on the proof of work (PoW) and Merkle tree model indicates that the sustainability of cryptocurrencies is a significant problem for developing nations. Its practicality presents a variety of challenges, particularly in Asia.

【Abstract】The power and correctness of smart contracts have been the focus of much research. We propose a new approach for developing smart contracts that uses multi-modal modeling to represent the application logic for the trade domain. We use discrete events modeling for concurrency combined with FSM modeling to use concurrent FSMs to not only simplify the design process for the modeler, but also to scale the application running on a blockchain and facilitate identifying parts of a smart program that are suitable for off-chain processing on a sidechain that also provides privacy. In addition, we achieve separation of concerns between (a) application logic and (b) its transformation into a smart contract and deployment on a blockchain with processing of selected patterns on private sidechains. We transform the model into a smart contract automatically, such that patterns, selected by the modeler, are deployed on a sidechain. The interface for the mainchain to sidechain interaction is also prepared and deployed automatically.
